Gibson leak prompts home search

THE sheriff's deputy who arrested actor Mel Gibson for drunken driving has had his home searched by fellow officers investigating how a police account of the actor's anti-Semitic tirade was made public, it was reported today.

Acting on a search warrant obtained by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, investigators raided the home of Deputy James Mee on September 13 and seized his computer, telephone records and other documents, according to the celebrity web site TMZ.com.

TMZ, citing unnamed department sources for its report, said the search warrant remains under seal and the outcome of the search has not been made public.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore refused to confirm or deny the report, saying only that the department is "investigating the unauthorized release of documents connected to the investigation" of the Gibson case.

Neither Deputy Mee nor his lawyer were available for comment.

TMZ is the Internet outlet which first published details of Gibson's behaviour at the time of his July 28 arrest, as recounted by Deputy Mee in four pages of his police report obtained by the web site.

Gibson said he owned half of Malibu and that would probably mean the officer's computer.

If only Congress could be investigated for leaks by the LA Sheriff's Department.

I'd say blame the girls in the booking room. Someone paid one of them good $$$ to blab that report.

Well...now that word has been leaked to the website the Gibson report was leaked to that there is an investigation into the leak of the Gibson report, there will have to be another raid of the officer's residence to investigate the leak of the investigation of the leak of the Gibson report.

Everybody got that?

Isn't that the truth? Isn't it great that they took this long to conduct the search? Almost everyone was asking how Gibson's words were released so quickly and completely the day this came out in the news. I'm sure that the leaky officer would be one of the first to go to his union lawyer if he were the victim.

Duh. I can't imagine why this is a surprise. The officer was already blabbing the afternoon of the bust, and I heard him on talk radio the next day.

I saw the diane Sawyer interviews with Mel Gibson.

Nothing has changed. This is one angry, angry dude. I would hate to have to interview him. He is not as smart as I thought earlier. and yes, I believe that he was raised anti-semitic and yes, that is what he believes about Jews.

He STILL has not said, "you know, I have a problem and I am not sure where it came from, but I will now figure out where my hate comes from."

But then, if he really dealt with his rage and hate, he wouldn't be able to continue making rageful violent films like his snuff film, The Passion.
