IREY CAMP: TRIB-REVIEW 'POLL' DOESN'T PASS THE SMELL TEST
Thursday, October 12, 2006
(MONONGAHELA, October 12) -- Irey for Congress general consultant Bill Pascoe -- responding to the release of a suspect survey in today's Pittsburgh Tribune-Review -- today released the following statement:
"Today's Tribune-Review contained a report on a 'poll' with suspect methodology and even more suspect results.
No one interested in the race between Jack Murtha and Diana Irey should be fooled into thinking this race is actually where this 'poll' says it's at -- unless, of course, the interested person is a Jack Murtha supporter, and his or her read of the 'poll' results leads that person to take a vacation for the next four weeks. If that's the case, then by all means, believe the 'poll' and act accordingly.
"Let's start by looking at the methodology of the so-called 'poll.' No information was supplied on the demographic breakdown of the survey sample. For instance, what is the breakdown of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents in this survey, and -- more importantly -- how does that track against what the electorate will look like on November 7? How does that track against what the electorate looked like in previous cycles?
"Second, the survey, according to the newspaper, was fielded last Saturday and Sunday. That alone immediately makes the results suspect -- most respectable pollsters won't poll on a Friday or Saturday evening because too many people are not home to take phone calls from pollsters, and that results in a skewed survey sample.
"And here's another real problem for the 'poll's' credibility: It just defies common sense to believe that Jack Murtha is leading Diana Irey by a larger margin in her own home county than he is across the district.
That's right -- the survey says Jack Murtha is leading Diana Irey by 27 points across the district as a whole, but he's leading Diana by 39 points in her own home county. Come on. That just doesn't pass the smell test.
"If the 'pollster' can't get it right in Washington County, why should we believe he got it right anywhere else?
"This 'poll' is about as reliable as Jack Murtha's word on his role in Abscam. He didn't tell the truth then, and this 'poll' isn't telling the truth now."

PING for a SMELLY POLL!!
The thug can wish that polls decide elections, but that will not be the case!
real poll is Nov 7...
what about okstate
What do you mean, what about okatate?
The rats win in their biased polls.
We win elections after their biased polls. Just make sure the illegals and dead rats don't vote.
I don't know if she'll win, but she sure won't lose by 27%.
Demonrats are going to lose it when the returns start coming in. And they will be crying foul when they lose.
Are we shocked at this lil tidbit? I think not. LOL :)
He posted that poll earlier i figured he would want the other view no?
LOL!
yeah....all the polls smell just fine....they smelled jsut the same in 2002 & 2004.....polls do NOT matter....what matters is that all conservatives republicans and even rinos go to the polls and keep the lib/dems out of office!!!!...and yes...it better to have a dope like chaffey in office than a lib/dem that will sway the majority...same goes for the braintrust running in NJ!!!
Okay, I got you now and s/he's been pinged, thanks. :-)
LOL! I thought about it but didn't want to infringe on your patent.
The witch from the ditch has already called for massive protests in DC and around the country, ala Mexico, for election day and beyond. Sorry, I can't find the thread right now.
Kristinn, can you produce that thread?
Infringe away! LOL!
It's a well known fact that polling done on weekends tends to oversample Demonrats, even if the methods used are otherwise unbiased.
Boot Murtha! - Murtha must GO - CensureMurtha
Anyone wishing to be added to the prestigious IREY ping list let me know!
