We have many places in the U.S. that are similar but for different reasons. There is a place in Inkster MI called "Little Saigon" that the police will not go into. It is a haven for drugs, crime, etc. There are places in Detroit MI that are that way as well. The police have it rough everywhere in or near large cities. They really earn their pay every day.
True, and nobody can make a case where police should endorse "no go" zones. But there's a difference between gang/drug violence and outright rebellion.
