"well some here will tell you we can nuke them and not get a single scratch, though being wrong would sure suck for seoul and maybe some major japanese urban areas and/or US bases."

But isn't the whole point that if they are not stopped now, the damage they will soon be able to inflict in the coming years will be far worse? After all, if we do not fear what they'll do with their nukes when they have enough of them, then there is no need to even talk about war with them anyway. Then there's the liklihood they will sell their bombs to the terrorists and watch us go up in smoke as they stand "innocently" in the distance, safe from retaliation.

yes, your points are all correct. The problem is that in order to deal with the problem NOW is such a huge price in blood (particularly for ROK) that is simply won't be done by republican governments until there is extraordinary provocation, i.e. it is too late. I seriously question if ROK would even let us resume hostilities (real hostilities, not word games some bring up here) pre-emptively from their territory given what they can expect. I think the only strategy the west and japan/ROK can follow now is destabilization with what limited means exist.

Certain a bad situation overall.

Yep. We habe already stopped ship(s) with missiles from NK, heading to Muslim fiends (Yemen, IIRC). They have a history of exporting. I certainly hope the Dems don't do as well as everyone assumes. We will have our hands full the next few years.
