Prayer Requested for 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub (Update at #3168)
The Canteen Crew

Posted on 10/11/2006 5:54:36 PM PDT by MoJo2001

The FReeper Canteen is asking all FReepers to please keep 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub in your prayers.

He has suffered a massive stroke and heart attack.

We know that many of you will have questions, but as of right now we don't have any further information.

Thank you

It's not possible for Tonk to die alone. He will always be surrounded by our love and his room will be crowded to overflowing with Vietnam buddies who have been waiting for him to join them.

If there is one thing I am absolutely certain about it's that all the angels in God's heaven will be there to welcome this wonderful man.

So very well said it needs to be reiterated. God bless all who are affected and saddened by this, and God hold Tonkin in your arms and give him peace.

I just got finished watching "It's A Wonderful Life" and now I have had to read this through fog.

Maybe they should play that movie and make him watch it.

His wishes must be repected as long as his mind is capable of making those decisions. It may not be pleasant to those around him, but it is what he wants. I hope my wishes are respected when it comes to be my time.

Brian, I don't know if you can read this but please change your mind on this. I know you Brian, don't give up.

Father God, I am asking for Your will regarding my friend Brian. If he is to stand in Your presence, let it be easy for him. I am asking for Your intervention Father to save Brian from Death. Speak to him Father. Save him. In Jesus' precious name I pray, Amen.

Prayers that God's will be done. Not Tonk's. Not mine. Not ours.

God's will.

To: MoJo2001; All

I respect Brian's wishes on this. There are worse things than dying.

I do wish he would allow his family to be at his bedside though. They will suffer greater pain during this time, due to being isolated from him.

We should be praying that God's will be done in respect to Brian, without stipulating what we would prefer that to be.

Just my opinion folks, and I respect the opinions of all the rest of you, whatever they may be.

Dang, Mojo, I am so bloody sorry.

I will keep praying, and I'll call in the clans momentarily. Thank you for being there for him.

I probably have my priorities in the wrong place, but him not knowing about the Coast Guard Award is what bothers me most. I can just imagine how proud he'd be.

Thank you for the update MoJo. I haven't followed the thread all that closely, but from the occasional updates it just sounds to me like Tonk has become weary of the battle. Can't say I blame him. He's decided he wants to go and ultimately we all end up going alone, whether surrounded by family and friends or not. No one can make that trip with us. From what I've read about Tonk, he will be in a new mansion soon enough, surrounded by God's angels and some old friends and family. May he have a smooth journey.

Dear MoJo,

I am not trying to show off here, just yakking.

Nosocomial infections are quite common. Anyone who is admitted to a hospital for surgery is immuno compromised, and subject to microbial invasions/infections that are more dangerous than to a healthy person.

There are rules that prevent hospital employees from disclosing information about patients. Most health workers refer to the regulations as simply HIPPA.

Patients refusing treatment is not at all uncommon.

Personally I think that it is possible that people who are not familiar with medical practitioners are not generally tolerant of incompetence.

I do not mean to accuse hospital folks of bad treatment, but, sometimes, people (Nurses and such) can seem to be a bit jaded to patients.

I am at a bit of a loss concerning what else to say here.

Yatch man is a hero.

He needs to know just how much impact that he has had on folks all over the world I am sure.

Is there no way that he can know what at least one person feels about his state? I am certain that more than one feel as I do. He needs to know these sorts of things, BIG TIME!

I feel terrible about this.

Before you read further, please note that this update will be extremely different and painful for those that know and love Mr. Tonkin.

All hands, proceed with caution, but know he needs us now more than ever.
