Because if Bush weren't president, the economy wouldn't be so strong, and people wouldn't be able to afford their own airplanes.

A passport is NOT required to get into Canada. It makes it easier, however.

Why would anyone blame this on President Bush?

Didn't he used to own a baseball team?

Well, you can't very well crash into a high rise riding your bycycle. Not the 20th floor anyway. So you are right. Bush's fault.

I believe a passport is required to get into Canada if you're flying up there, but not at ports of entry along the U.S. border.

That could be. The statement was made that "baseball players" are required to carry passports to get into Canada. That is not true. Anyway, American League baseball teams enter through Toronto Airport.

A helicopter would be expected in that area of the city; no other aircraft should be around that part of Manhattan, according to the FAA.

Apparently they should not have been flying in that part of Manhattan. This surprising considering there was an instructor in the plane. The instructor could have lost her license had she survived.

I was listening to a trucker program on XM the other day and they were talking about passports being required to get back into the US from Canada beginning Jan., 07, so some might carry them now just to make it easier.

But that is moot. The guy can carry his wherever he wants to. It is his.

Probably won't help him cross his next border, though.

As someone posted on another thread (in a lighter moment), they ought to build airplanes out of the same paper they use to make passports, since those things always seem to survive intact.

:-P

Especially after that last announcement about Lidle NOT having been officially checked out for solo flying
Actually, he was "checked out" for solo flying. He had his Private Pilot's License, a requirement of which includes 10 hours of solo flight, five of which must be cross country.

You can look-up pilot registrations here.

Yes, they've declared Lidle officially dead on FoxNews.

Just to clarify, who is they?

Don't you FLY ANYWHERE.....if you did, you'd know you basically use your passport for ID these days at the airport.

I only wanted to discuss a part of the article...not the whole shot.

This accident is sad but interesting. I have seen airborne video of the incident building. It appears to me that there is enough room between the tall buildings to fly around them. Anything thing but hitting a vertical wall. Which leads me to believe they couldn't properly control the plane and were too low and too close to deploy the ballistic chute.

Surely you are not trying to read or suggest something gossipy into the fact someone has their passport with them while inside one's own country?
