Fed up with legislative action every year to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, former State Senator Dick Mountjoy has joined with the non-profit organization Defend California to craft an initiative to prohibit such efforts.
Our initiative will once and for all prohibit any government entity from giving tax-funded benefits to illegal aliens, said Mountjoy, a candidate for the U.S. Senate. Thankfully, Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed the drivers license bill the past two years, but what if we had a Governor like Phil Angelides? Hed sign the drivers license giveaway in a heartbeat.
Californians are fed up with illegal immigration and with the politicians who are bending over backwards to reward illegals.
The initiative, which the Legislative Analyst estimates will save California hundreds of millions of dollars each year, will put an amendment into the California constitution that specifically blocks all government entities from granting drivers licenses, in-state college tuition discounts, government financial aid, and other benefits to illegal immigrants. In addition, the initiative requires the state of California to defend this amendment against any and all challenges in state or federal court.
Perhaps most intriguing, the initiative will give private citizens the right to sue the State or local government to insure compliance with this amendment, and will hold government and elected officials who willfully violate the amendment personally liable for the costs of litigation.
The Defend California Initiative puts the power back into the hands of the citizens of California by giving them the ability to enforce violations of this constitutional amendment, and hold those who violate the amendment personally liable for damages, added Mountjoy. This is huge because bureaucrats and politicians will be held truly accountable for their actions.
To help the initiative withstand court challenges, it does specifically exempt benefits that are required under federal law.
Were starting the initial phase of the effort with petitions that are available for download on several web sites, including DefendCalifornia.com, CRAVictoryTeam.com and MountjoyforSenate.com, Mountjoy stated. Were encouraging everyone to gather signatures for the intiative while they campaign for their favorite candidates. Its a win-win for everyone.
Backers have until February 20, 2007 to collect 598,105 signatures.
The tide is turning vis a vis illegals. They are NOW destroying towns all over the USA, and the people are starting to rebel.
Keep the faith...Bump
Here's an "I sat in one of our area's last remaining emergency rooms with my daughter for 10 hours Friday night" BUMP to the top. (Southern Californians ARE fed up, this may just fly.)
I heard someone claim that more people are involved in the grassroots movement against amnesty for illegal aliens than were involved in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's. Can't verify that, but it sounds plausible. The difference is that the media was in favor of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's and gave it full coverage, but media is against the anti-illegal alien movement and is purposefully downplaying our size and anger.
Exactly!
One of the reasons the international socialists have been so successful is that they are patient and willing to work a lifetime for something that won't happen until they are long gone.
Shot down by ONE judge from the 9th circuit court (Pfaelzer), along with a wimp Governor who wouldn't stand up for his own state (Davis). That's when we found out that our votes didn't count here in Mexifornia.
