Because these nut-jobs are not civilized enough to operate a squirt-gun let alone a nuc.

Yeah, both Theocratic Iran and a nuclear-armed North Korea owe a big thanks to that scumbag Carter.

Now its time to send a couple of Nuke Subs to sit off N. Korea. Huh? SSBNs or SSNs? And what good would that do?

Isn't it curious that just a few weeks ago we were assured by the Iranians they had developed these amazingly accurate and powerful anti-ship missiles? Why are they so worried about just two easy-to-sink US carriers, loaded with easy-to-shoot-down US attack aircraft, flow by infidels of all people?
To: freedom44
I might mention that an aircraft carrier is accompanied by several destroyers, cruisers, and submarines, it is called "Battle Group".
And the Battle Group Eisenhower has more firepower than all the World War II combined!
Yes, that tinhorn dictator should be aware of this, and a few or more changes of underwears would be desirable.
We are slow to anger but when we do get mad, the tinhorn dictator is GONE!

The sight of a carrier on the horizon is a clear message to some tin-horn dictator that his time is ALMOST up. I doubt a carrier group would be in the area without a sub accompanying it.

Iran having a nuke isn't our problem and ... North Korea isn't our problem. Is your name Neville?

AS a former swabbie, our carriers rarely had less than two sub escorts

The TRIDENT SWS and support facilities were designed from the beginning to handle the newer and larger missile system with minimal impact and cost. By early 2003, two of the four SSBNs had completed backfit; one was fully operational and making deployments in the Pacific, and the other was finishing its final certification and testing. The second submarine will also be homeported in the Pacific. The last two SSBNs were scheduled to start their backfit in FY 2005 and FY 2006.
In the pacific and ready for action.

Is this true, and is it routine for these 2 carriers to be there?Probably and yes, at least for quite some time.
