Senator fights the tide, calls warming by humans a hoax
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/11/6 | Zachary Coile

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says the debate whether humans are changing the climate is over. Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, says the science linking human activity to global warming is overwhelming.

President Bush recently called global warming "a serious problem." He said there is still uncertainty over how much of the warming is natural and how much man-made, but he added that it was time to "get beyond the debate" and deploy new technologies to curb greenhouse gases.

But in the U.S. Senate, one prominent lawmaker isn't buying it.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., has argued repeatedly that the idea that humans are warming the climate is a hoax. In a speech on the Senate floor last month, he declared that the "greatest climate threat we face may be coming from alarmist computer models."

I saw Inhofe while channel surfing on Miles O'Brian's show (CNN).

Inhofe pointed out how 10 or so years ago Miles was informing the public that an ice age was coming. LOL.

surface temperatures have risen by 1.4 degrees since the early 20th century, including a 0.9 degree increase since 1978.

Would that be Fahrenheit, Celsius, or Advocacy degrees? It's funny how scientists only use Celsius unless Fahrenheit looks better.

Global Warming is the 21st Century way of saying the earth is flat.

A fraud by anti-business left-wing scientists that has been spread far and wide to become a big whopper of a hoax.

The politicians just stick their fingers in the air and don't care about the truth with some notable exceptions like the one mentioned in this story.

I would like Global Warming advocates to inform me of when, precisely, we had these so-called halcyon days of temperature stability.

Truth is, it never happened. To suggest stasis in temperatures is possible through mankind's efforts is ridiculous.

Why get caught up in the details?  The important thing is the evil corporate/capitalist system needs to be destroyed, and this is our hammer.

Very little in science is called "A Fact".
ie "The theory of Relativity"

Only RATS get to call "global warming" "acid rain" "ozone layer" theory's, FACTS.

I have read evidence that global warming is occurring on Mars as well as other planets. Could it be that the United States (the only country ever blamed for global warming) is really causing Galactic warming??? If the U.S. is to blame, might as well blame big!

Shouldn't we get passed the impasse and throw taxpayer money at the problem. My new motto: Defeat global warming, send taxpayer money to the Sun. I know taxpayer money will cool down the Sun problem. [/:^)

ah, the Sun isn't the problem......???
we humans are?
okay, send me taxpayer money and I'll lie to you and say I need more money to fix the problem. okay?

oops...the environmentally ill are going to be mad at me....
that's their scam......

Short of a mass thaw at the poles, this subject just can't get any traction during the winter months; call me when they start giving away calcium chloride just to empty the shelves so that they can stock air conditioners in Maine.

Indeed, the only constant in the climate, since planet Earth has had enough atmosphere to have a climate, has been change. Nothing ever stays the same, never has, never will.

The problem as I see it is the woeful lack of ability of the general populace to look at things on a global timescale, not the four seasons of one year. The only reason the Global Warming Hoax has been so successful, is sheer ignorance. But then again, isn't that always the case?

There have been periods of heat and cold so extreme that most life on Earth has been wiped out. This was well before man arrived.

Even in our history - there was a time when one could grow barley in Greenland; this was during the time of the Vikings. You can do so again now, apparently, but still, it's not the first time.

The climate changes no matter what we do. We have to adapt to it. That's all.

I read an article I can't link to here on The Independent Online addition ("Arctic thawed in prehistoric global warming") that core samples of the arctic sea bed showed that the North Pole has in the past been completely ice free and was so warm that it supported tropical marine life. That was 55 million years ago, long before automobiles were burning "fossil" fuels. Funny how that hasn't made the news.

So much ignorance...

Dennis Miller does a funny segment on global warming in his latest stand up routine.

"It seems the crux of the argument is that the temperature of the Earth has risen a few degrees over the past hundred years. Well sorry if I don't trust the temperature readings from 1902. You mean alot of people were still shitting in the woods but we had a strangle hold on the exact temperature of the Earth? Do you think during the dustbowl of the '30's the people were blaming global warming or were they just saying 'Dang, it hasn't rained in a while'."
