CBS4) BOSTON Former Boston city councilor David Scondras is facing charges for attempting to lure a teenage boy over the internet.
Lawrence Police arrested Scondras at about 1:15 a.m. Monday. Investigators said a sergeant pretending to be a 15-year-old boy had several sexually explicit email exchanges with Scondras.
Officers arrested Scondras at a location where he thought he was going to meet the boy.
Scondras served on the city council from 1983-1993. He was the city's first openly-gay councilor. Scondras also founded the non-profit organization, Search For A Cure.
Scondras was arrested in 1996 after a teenager accused him of sexual assault in a Boston movie theatre. The charges were eventually dropped.
> Yes...Howie needs a "sound board"
That's a great idea...you should email him the suggestion.
> he needs to have some internet guru...
I'll say.

DA: Oops!
>>>Ah yes, the Internet. When men are men, women are men and teenagers are undercover police.>>>
It's not like this is a secret or something. Are pedophiles stupid or just hoping to hit the teenage sex lottery and it ACTUALLY being a real teenager interested in having sex with a middle age man? (Male or female, how many teenagers find balding fat middle age men attractive?)
I hope Howie plays the tape of a very drunk David Scondras calling 911 to get the phone number of a BFD Official.
He's a victim! /sarc.

This guys admits he picked up a 16 year old and he isn't in jail. Boston is some kind of place.
This time however, the 16 year old administered a real old fashioned beat down.
More details from CBS 4
The 60-year-old Scondras pleaded not guilty Tuesday to several charges including enticement of a child under the age of 16 and assault and battery on a police officer. He's being held on $1500 cash bail and is due back in court in November.
I wonder if that was Scondras too -- I did hear on the radio that he was just arrested for soliciting, but didn't catch the details. And he hasn't been a city councilor since the election after the earlier incident . . .
You mean "Spirit of '76," don't you, Ernest?
Negative. "Spirit of '75" evokes for me the spirit that carried Massachusetts through the Stamp Act Crisis, the Boston Massacre, the Alarms, and the battles of Lexington & Concord and Breed's (Bunker's) Hill. I have a fervent hope that that revolutionary spirit lives today in some of my New England bretheren.

LAWRENCE, Mass. -- Police have arrested former Boston City councilor David Scondras after he allegedly tried to meet a minor for sex.
Police say Scondras was accidentally messaging a security officer at Lawrence General Hospital, who he thought was a minor.
He was arrested when he arrived at the meeting.
David Scondras was booted out of office in 1993 by 27 votes.
My mother, my brother, and I voted against him. My mother worked for his opponent's campaign. We are certain that David Scondras would not have been defeated but for our work.
It was a non-partisan election, and both candidates were Democrats. My mother said flatly to David Scondras's opponent, "I want you to know that I do not support you, but I am going to campaign for you because we have got to get Scondras out of there."
We could have been purists. We could have stayed home on election day. We darn sure didn't have to campaign for Scondras's Democrat opponent.
But because we did, David Scondras was booted out of office.
So let's go campaign for a Republican congress even if we have to say right to the candidate's face, "I want you to know that I don't support you, but I am going to campaign for you because we have got to get the Democrats out of there."
Oh, he's a Democrat?
Never mind.
Larry?
Indeed! How strange! :-)
Yeah! You remember Larry! And Moe and Curly!
Bet ya a buck HG ain't from the Merrimack Valley...
