China is behind a significant amount of the spreading of nuke and missile technology throughout the world including Pakistan, North Korea and thus also Iran. They see it as a way of "sticking" it to the US and we should now take this opportunity to "stick" it to them in a manner that will really hurt them. This would thwart China's designs against Taiwan and also make it much harder for them to threaten Japan.

China and Russia, but especially China are responsible for this entire mess in North Korea to begin with. Russia took over the north at the end of WWII and installed the communist government, refused to allow elections and then armed the idiot in charge leading to the unprovoked attack against the south and the Korean War.

After the UN troops (mainly US) defeated the North Koreans China attacked. I repeat this meant that China attacked troops operating under a UN mandate. Thus, the unprovoked aggression of China is the only reason why North Korea exists. 50,000+ Americans died not to mention all the Koreans who died and the millions who have suffered for decades under their rule.

Allowing Taiwan and Japan to go nuke with missile delivery systems and antimissile systems would be China's just reward (in my not so humble opinion).
I also hate to say this but I see North Korea as just another example, like Saddam and Iraq, of the price that has to be paid when a war is not fought to its conclusion -- specifically that it almost always means that a worse war has to be fought later, or that millions will die over time before the regime is finally deposed, or that most certaintly millions will suffer, generations will be lost, etc, due to the oppression of communism.

Ron, I appreciate your post. I'm interested if there are numbers anywhere of the number of losses our military suffered after President Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur. As you may recall, General MacArthur had called for using nuclear weapons and all-out war to stop the Chinese horde. The Korean War was also our first war with limited objectives, and the sort of war we have fought ever since. We wouldn't be dealing with this problem today if it had been decisively dealt with in the early fifties.

I think we need to let China know that we see them as N.Korea's legal guardian in so much as they are liable for N.Korea's actions. Sanction them as we would N. Korea. It would hurt us economically, but the alternative is getting nuked by NK and the PRCs Proxy (Iran, Ect).

You make a lot of good points but you leave out a (metaphorical) "nuclear option". If we shut down all imports from China, it would bring down the Chinese regime. It would be hard on us, but devastating on them. And no US politicos are even talking about it.
