TAMPA, FL- Congresswoman Katherine Harris, the Republican candidate for the United States Senate, soundly defeated Bill Nelson this evening by a 54% to 45% margin in the straw poll conducted at the Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park. The Harris campaign continues to build momentum, engendering tremendous grassroots support throughout the state with a pro-growth, pro-family message that resonates across the political spectrum.
Congresswoman Harris commented, I appreciate the strong support of a majority of voters who are disillusioned with Bill Nelsons lack of leadership and his record of voting against Floridas best interests. I will fight for Florida in the United States Senate.
The Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park straw poll illustrates the widespread support that exists for Harris consistent message of cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful spending, protecting the institution of marriage and opposing amnesty for illegal citizens. Congresswoman Katherine Harris is the only candidate with a demonstrated record of leadership who will fight for Floridas values in the U.S. Senate.
Katherine Harris, the Republican Candidate for the United States Senate, currently serves as the Representative for Floridas 13th Congressional District. After receiving a Masters in Public Policy from Harvards Kennedy School of Government, she continued a distinguished career in public service to her native state that began in the State Senate and as Floridas last elected Secretary of State. She resides in Longboat Key with her husband Anders Ebbeson and his 24-year-old daughter, Louise along with the constituents of District thirteen.
It would help if she campaigned. I haven't seen a single ad for her anywhere in the media. Is she out of money?
Where is Dale Mabry?
LOL!!!
Thank you!!!
Um, when an internal poll is good, campaigns release them all the time.
Funny how Harris hasn't done that yet.
Indeed !
Just as there is a difference between a dedicated 'fan & friend' and a mindless booster .
As there is a difference between someone who aknowledges the facts and those whom are manipulated by them !
(Let's not get 'blinded by science' !)
>>Will Harris really finish as far behind Nelson as the polls indicate? I just dont believe it. Im not a Harris supporter, but I will vote for her because she is vastly superior to the alternative. I find it hard to believe that with Republicans far ahead in all the other statewide races that shell get trounced by as much as the polls say. Who are these people who vote R in all the other races and then vote for Nelson? I truly believe that this race will be MUCH closer than people think and it wouldnt surprise me if Harris wins.<<
Your statements seems contradictory, no matter .
Recent polls indicate that Harris is closing the gap with Nelson .
This does not mean she is going to win,
but you should not be too suprised if and when she does !
>>My last 13 years at sea was with Exxon's Danish Oil Company Dansk Esso A/S's tanker fleet!
I lived in Copenhagen where my father had a fish business on Vesterbrogade a few blocks from Carlsberg. As a boy I would deliver fresh fish to the Atomic scientist and Nobel Prize Winner Niels Bohr, who lived in the Honorary Residence at the Carlsberg Brewery!!
I believe in 1943 he was smuggled out to Sweden and then here to the U.S. joining the bomb team. BTW he was always very friendly and a great tipper when presented with the bills!!!
<<
Well Danamco, that is a quite an impressive story .
If your ever had one of their special brew "Elephant Beer" you have tried one of the strongest beer ever brewed commercially!!!
Pray tell what polls are those?
This is a STRAW POLL, it's completely meaningless. The fact that she's releasing it just proves how desperate she is.
You are probably right that Harris will get more then the 34% she's gotten in some polls, but will she get above 45%? Highly, highly doubtful.
It doesn't make me happy, but I'm not going to drink anybody's Kool-Aid, be it D or R.
If we just want to base things based on what we want, why not just predict a 30 seat Republican gain?
LOL!!!!
>>If we just want to base things based on what we want, why not just predict a 30 seat Republican gain? <<
I am not !
Fact is, the GOP will probably lose several seats in the House .
Harris is already making over 42% in recent polls,
but I too doubt that she will make much more than 45% and
not more than 48-49% tops . .
>>Katherine Harris beats Bill Nelson and my clothes come off at high noon on Elle McPherson.<<
I hate to depress you, but Elle McPherson is of the Leftwing persuasion, according to Debbie Schlussel at her webpage .
What does bttt mean?
She was able to garner a whole 9% lead at a Republican fundraiser? Don't bust out the champagne quite yet...
