POLL: Katherine Harris Beats Bill Nelson -- Leads 54% to 45%

TAMPA, FL- Congresswoman Katherine Harris, the Republican candidate for the United States Senate, soundly defeated Bill Nelson this evening by a 54% to 45% margin in the straw poll conducted at the Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park. The Harris campaign continues to build momentum, engendering tremendous grassroots support throughout the state with a pro-growth, pro-family message that resonates across the political spectrum.

Congresswoman Harris commented, “I appreciate the strong support of a majority of voters who are disillusioned with Bill Nelson’s lack of leadership and his record of voting against Florida’s best interests. I will fight for Florida in the United States Senate.”

The Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park straw poll illustrates the widespread support that exists for Harris’ consistent message of cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful spending, protecting the institution of marriage and opposing amnesty for illegal citizens. Congresswoman Katherine Harris is the only candidate with a demonstrated record of leadership who will fight for Florida’s values in the U.S. Senate.

Katherine Harris, the Republican Candidate for the United States Senate, currently serves as the Representative for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. After receiving a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, she continued a distinguished career in public service to her native state that began in the State Senate and as Florida’s last elected Secretary of State. She resides in Longboat Key with her husband Anders Ebbeson and his 24-year-old daughter, Louise along with the constituents of District thirteen.

Just remember, I only drink Carlsberg!!!

Hey Dan, you wouldn't happen to work for a Danish shipping company would you? My brother in law works in Orlando and is from Copenhagen originally. I'm not sure of the name of the company he's with now, but he has previously worked for Dan Transport. I've been to the Carlsberg brewery BTW, my Bro in-law took a great picture of me standing by the elephants.

I go to Press Box for lunch fairly often. It would be quicker to bring your own beer.

Maybe we should have the voting booth right there to increase turnout.

Katherine Harris beats Bill Nelson and my clothes come off at high noon on Dale Mabry.

For the edification of others, I believe Dale Mabry to be a street located in Tampa, FL. The problem here is that Dale Mabry is probably over 3 miles long and "if" voters in Florida found out about the real "do nothing" Bill Nelson there would be a show on Dale Mabry, the question is, "what intersection"?

The Taxpayers Of America rate Nelson with one of the lowest grades there is and that is one of his better points.

I love how everybody is counting her out but I think the MSM and everybody will be in for a bit of a shock on election night. I still say the GOP holds even or could pick up a seat or two after all is said and done in the House & Senate.

You nailed it. Thank you I have had my fill of people who have gave up.

My last 13 years at sea was with Exxon's Danish Oil Company Dansk Esso A/S's tanker fleet!

I lived in Copenhagen where my father had a fish business on Vesterbrogade a few blocks from Carlsberg. As a boy I would deliver fresh fish to the Atomic scientist and Nobel Prize Winner Niels Bohr, who lived in the Honorary Residence at the Carlsberg Brewery!!

I believe in 1943 he was smuggled out to Sweden and then here to the U.S. joining the bomb team. BTW he was always very friendly and a great tipper when presented with the bills!!!

Harris deserves to be in Congress. She deserves Republican support.

If she waffled and gave in to the pressure of the press and many people in her state, Algore would be sitting in the White House today, Saddam and the Iranians would be building bombs together, and terrorists would have turned American into a combat zone.

And if the Dems take over Congress, all of the above will happen.

Bush may not be the greatest, and the Repubs may not be perfect, but compared to the alternative, the choice is a "no-brainer".

I would have to say the Dale Mabry and Kennedy suggestion sounds about right. Plus I could walk back to work when I'm done (if I still have a job, that is).

It was a joke, son, a joke. But seriously the science of these polls is ridiculous.

Dale Mabry is a major highway in the Tampa area.

Sure it's not the name of an up and coming Log Cabin Rino in Florida?

Can't be too careful, nowdays.

This is excellent news,,,, but don't get the champagne out yet !
There is still four more weeks left to the election, and alot can happen in that amount of time .

Like I stated on another thread- - "assumption is the mother of all screw-ups" .
