Saturday, October 7, 2006 Militants kill two children of a missionary couple in Pakistan
By Sheraz Khurram Khan Special Correspondent for ASSIST News Service in Pakistan http://www.assistnews.net/Stories/s06100040.htm
MUZAFFARABAD, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- In an horrific incident of Christian persecution on September 1, some unidentified militants slew two children of a missionary couple who is working with At Any Cost Jesus Mission, a underground ministry evangelizing to the Muslim nations.
A press release sent via e-mail to ANS by Any Cost Jesus Mission said that the assailants torched the dead bodies of teenaged children Shalom, 15 and Sharon 14 after murdering them brutally in the northern district of Pakistan. The teenaged victims according to the press release were secondary school students.
Shalom and Sharon were kidnapped along with their missionary parents and two other younger sisters 10 days before the murder. The militants asked them to convert to Islam but they refused, said the press release.
So the militants killed Shalom first. Then they raped the girl and cut one of her breasts in front of her parents. She too died, the press release quoted another underground missionary, Habel who it said broke the news to Any Cost Jesus Mission from a hidden place.
Police and the military forces are backing the militants. Habel and his family was also attacked and their house was burnt but the Lord enabled them to escape to a hidden place. They (militants) also demolished a church and some houses were set on fire too, the evangelization ministry claimed in the press release.
According to the press release the militants set the motorbike on fire by spraying petrol on it and left the dead bodies in a ditch along with a motorbike.
The police declared a false statement that it was an accident and the petrol tank of the bike was open when they fell into the ditch and burnt by a spark, alleged Any Cost Jesus Mission.
The press release said that the believers are living in a grip of fear and trouble following the killing of Shalom and Sharon.
The ministry further claimed in the press release that the militants are not allowing believers to pray.
They are not even allowed to speak a single word about Christ or Christianity or Christians, the press release quoted Habel as saying.
The tribal people and their leaders are also being murdered by the terrorists in the Neelum Valley, it said.
When the crazy Christians can historically cite Christ forcing conversion or death ultimatums during his life, (let alone direct murders such as Mohammed was guilty of) I will remotely acknowlege your attempt at moral equivalency.
You do not need to bastardize the teachings of Mohammed to commit heinous acts in his name.. he personally engaged in them, and laid out the blue print to follow for you as his follower to do the same.
Christ died for you sins, Mohammed would kill you for them.
Baptist ping...
Very sad...such young girls being martyred for their faith! I always wonder would I have the same courage? We know nothing of persecution to the degree that other believers are experiencing around the world.
Matt 5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Interestingly, or perhaps not so, you are pretty much wrong yourself. The Quran specifically forbids killing people unjustly. References to killing are in the context of people attacking mosques and what have you. People do quote mine both the Bible and the Quran and use out-of-context quotes to try and make a point. Such activity is highly dishonest and leads to endless misunderstandings.
For example, I will use this quote from Deuteronomy, taken completely out of context, to show how Christianity supports violence:
"I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the long-haired heads of the enemy." (32:42)
or this:
"And when the Lord, your God, delivers them before you and you defeat them, destroy them utterly. Make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them" (Deuteronomy 7:1-2).
It would be stupid to think that these implies Christianity is an inherently violent religion, and it is equally stupid to think that quote-mined passages from the Quran are any different.
My original point, though perhaps not clear originally, is still valid: Christianity and Islam both have murderous followers who kill innocent people. That does not mean that either religion is bad, just that some purported followers are.
Those girls have a wonderful martyr's crown awaiting them.
When I opened this thread and read the article I wondered how long it would take until a FReeper would blame the victims. It didn't take long, sad to say.
I'll not take shots at you....I agree with you 100 percent
May God rest their souls.
God calls you when He calls you. He may not call before you have those children. He may call you specifically because He is going to use the experience to equip your children to be missionaries.
And yes, sometimes God calls us to serve and to die for our faith. Even when we are teenagers.
It's sad these kids lost their lives. But Christians should be willing to do this for our Lord if He asks it of us. After all, for us to live is Christ, to die is gain. These kids knew this and served Him unto death willingly.
There are many who will not understand this mindset. They either don't have any hope for the life after this earthly existence, or if they are Christians, they haven't fully grasped it.
::::sigh:::: The 'you' in my post was a generic 'you'. We weren't talking about you specifically. I thought you knew that.
The parents are victims in this too. And you are blaming the victim.
So when "Peace" means a Boot to Your Throat they are not to take that literally.
Your quoting of Deuteronomy is right out of the Christo-bigot handbook. Go to the Torah portion of the Old Testiment to make your point of Christ's Teachings. How bout you quote Christ?
He died for your sins and simply Stands at the Door and knocks to come into your Heart. He asks for your decision to follow him as your savior. There is no forcing but a simple choice like these two martyrs made.
These girls had courage beyond belief, I only wish I could say that I would make the same decision. You marvel at their humility. May God use them for his Kingdom.

The fact that your response was more of an attack implies that I was not clear in my intentions, which could be a failing on my part.
And this isn't an issue of trying to utilize a "moral equivalence" tactic, as the entire point was just to show that it's wrong for anybody to murder innocent people, and that people who are murderers can claim to be associated with any religion they want, even if they should be considered outside of that religion's mainstream views.
That specific instruction was given to me by common sense. .....which I substituted with the word 'God' in my post.
Of course it would be to you. This is something not within your realm of understanding.
It was Ado, Lot's wife.
The only place I've ever seen her identified by name is Jasher 19:52.
;)
Ugh, this is impossible
I even said I was intentionally quote-mining the bible to show how things can be taken out of context. That was the entire point. I specifically sought out well-known examples of anti-Christian propoganda to show how it looks. It's Obivous spin to us Christians and I'm sure quotes from the Quran look similarly to Muslims.
So much for thinking that I could find a place full of other Republicans who want to discuss issues instead of fighting. I support our troops, vote based on values, and believe in a strong America, so it is absurd that a message board on which I should feel most comfortable resorts to attack if I do not stick to party line talking points. Enjoy the rest of your day.
No, I'm not wrong, and you obviously don't know what you're talking about. You've obviously never read Christs own words to those who would follow him, or mohammads to the children of darkness. Do some research.
This report isn't fair. The militants said "Pretty please, with sugar on top". Typical right wing Islamophobic media bias.
Typo. When referring to Islamofascists, the correct question is, "Religion or Peace?".
Is barbarians too nice a word?
