President Bush addresees the nation from the White House 09:45AM ET
OK, everyone agrees NK should not have nuclear weapons. Just one little problem. They do.
I even heard the president say that if NK exports nuclear material to others we will hold NK fully accountable for the "consequences" of such action. That means no action unless we can trace back the nuclear attack to NK. I'm sorry, but this policy is pathetic and will not result in a non nuclear NK.
On this one, Bill Kristol was the only one not drinking Kool Aid. NK has been firing missiles, now it is announcing nules. This is not going in the right direction.
A conventional war in Korea would almost certainly kill miliions of South Koreans. Do you really think the ROK will accept that?
A nuke tossed at Korea would kill fewer people than a conventional war, and would give just cause for a nuke response that might end things immediately.
Bolton is up
One would think this was anticipated and a course of action was in place. How can the world be so passive?
Screw NBC and screw Russert. He's a professional Democrat. I hope there's a Libby trial, just to see Russert sweat.
Bolton (Live now) on FNC
They want to be self-reliant? Fine. Let's see what happens if they are left with boiling lumps of mud for supper.
Regards, Ivan
Oh, good!
Thanks. It's not mine - I don't remember where I heard it. Feel free to use it.
Will the SC meet behind closed doors?
The steel fist, however, is the term "full range of detterent or security commitments." There's a whole lot implied by that.
The deaths of a couple of million South Koreans, for instance? The steel fist is an empty threat, and the North Koreans know it.
I saw it as the President wanting to say a lot more, but holding back while awaiting more information and world reaction.
What did Kristol say (for those without TVs)?
Bolton getting into Council but will come back later to answer questions. We're working closely with the government of Japan.
Dat deLeeza and da boyz. A response to the See-no-evil team of the Clinton gang.
Bolton's speaking now... wonder who will be his replacement.
Don't care whose fault it is, just want it solved. It is not being solved, it is going in the wrong direction.
could you please post a link to that picture? Thanks.
Yup, they count on the Chinese, and the Russians, somewhat, for just about everything.
China needs to realize a unified Korea is better for them than the present situation. That darned "communism" thing keeps getting in the way, though.
If there is to be a war, let it begin here.
