COULTER: No. Actually, I don't really like any of our front-runners.

COULTER: I think it's going to be somebody else.

COULTER: Actually, of the ones they talk about ... he's my favorite. It's somebody out of the blue.
O'REILLY: I think Mitt Romney is the guy on the inside track that very few people know about.
I had high hopes for Allen, but the Maccaca incident and the Jewish ancestry tempest in a teacup shows he isn't ready for prime-time yet. I was thinking more of Mississippi's Barbour. He did a bang-up job with Katrina and provided such a contrast to the incompetence in Louisiana.
Barbour sounds like a good man. Fortunately, it's an eternity (in political years) between now and the '08 campaign. A lot will depend on what happens this November.
i was listening that day, if you listen to rush closely he pauses for a few seconds and then tosses romney in, it wasn't immediate.
Yes, we should refrain from republican bashing until november 2006. However, when it comes to mccain bashing, fire at will.
Allen can handle the pressure. The entire weight of the MSM and the democrat party descended on him these last two months, yes he stumbled that first week and a half or so,then he stopped the bleeding and went on the offense. Very few people have experienced the entire weight of the MSM and democrat party like allen has. You can say all you want that romney, or mccain, or rudy is ready for 'primetime' and they would have handled it better, but at this point its pure speculation. They all would have likely stumbled a bit. Allen has proved that he can take the beating the MSM throws at him and come back.
When it comes to '08 this will be a blessing in disguise. He can credibly go to the primary voters and say, i was able to withstand a MSM s##tstorm and turn the tide, nobody else here can credibly say that. This race is helping to better prep allen for the s#%tstorm that will be thrown at any '08 candidate. Remember, in 2008, allen will be the only candidate who has run a race in some time. Last time romney ran a race was in 2002, mccain 2000, rudy 1997.

What liberal positions does Romney have?
He can come across as a smarmy New Englander, but the Republic can survive such imperfections. It cannot survive Quislings like Hillary Clinton.
I'll stick with Rudy if he runs, because the War on Terror at this juncture is the only issue that really matters. I can live with his social liberalism as long as he is the toughest candidate on the terrorists.

I'm not wild about Romney's mandatory health insurance program in MA and its interference in the free market, reduction of personal liberty, etc. It seems like a very RINO idea to me...

Also, Romney was "pro choice" until very recently. I'm concerned how that might bode for judicial appointments. One of his former aides told National Review that in past "He's been a pro-life Mormon faking it as a pro-choice friendly." Well, *that* makes me feel better...not. It shows he was willing to put aside personal convictions, if they *were* really his personal convictions, for political expediency.
I really don't get the enthusiasm for Romney. JMHO.
