In times past, no public figure would want to be associated with dirty political tricks. Nowadays, however, Lawrence O'Donnell is enthusiastically flaunting the fact that the Democrats have stooped to the sleazy tactic of outing gays as a campaign tactic. The McLaughlin Group panelist and former producer of The West Wing has no qualms about his party engaging in sleaze as he pointed out in his October 5 Blog in The Huffington Post:
The LA Times has outed Kirk Fordham today. He will not be the last closeted gay Republican outed by this scandal.
So is this outing of Republican gays based on some important moral principle? Not according to O'Donnell. It is strictly a sleazy campaign tactic that is supposed to keep Evangelical Republicans from supporting their party at the polls this November as O'Donnell readily admits:
The Republican base--the Evangelical get-out-the-vote troops--are going to be devastated when they discover how many closeted gay Republicans were involved in policing Mark Foley in the House of Representatives.
As Peter Mulhern wrote in Real Clear Politics about the cynical Democrat tactic of trying to drive a wedge between Evangelicals and Republicans:
Democrats didn't keep Mark Foley's sins on ice and serve them up shortly before an election to make Dennis Hastert look negligent. They did it to drive a wedge between the GOP and its evangelical supporters by publicizing the fact that the Republican leadership in Congress gave the benefit of a substantial doubt to a known homosexual.
If O'Donnell were writing a West Wing episode in which one of the parties were engaging in outing gays for political advantage, you can bet he would make sure it would have been the EVIL Republicans who were doing the outing. However, in real life, O'Donnell is more than happy to enthusiastically support this dirty campaign tactic if it helps the Democrats at the polls. One can only imagine the media outrage if a prominent Republican had written approvingly about outing gay Democrats for political advantage. In the case of O'Donnell the only sounds coming from the MSM about this new Democrat tactic. other than the L.A. Times performing the outings for the benefit of the Democrats, are the chirping of crickets.
A sampling of responses to O'Donnell's promotion of dirty politics as a campaign strategy can be seen at the DUmmie FUnnies.
Today on Chris Matthews Sunday Show, Tucker Carlson predicted a heterosexual congressman will be exposed for abusing pages. Matthews nodded agreement at Carlson's prediction.
Is Lawrence O'Donnell out of the closet? I always suspected that his perpetual anger may stem from homosexual self doubt and low self esteem. He always has an angry sneer on his face, even when he smiles.
These sort of DBM tactics are just making people mad. I know I was reminded to send for my absentee ballot since I won't be in town during the election.
I'll never vote dem/socialist/commie, ever.
Eva...I agree 100%...the man doth protests too much...he does appear to be a questionable at best!
why he is even allowed back on TV after he lost is totally on chrissy mathews show is beyond any comprehension...this guy is completely un-glued!!!
he is a standard bearer for the lib/desm...he is giddy when america is damaged/troops are hurt or killed and supports anything un-american....he is a psoter boy of wanting america to fail so that lib/dems can e-gain power to complete their french destructive plan of surrendering to all enemies of the US!
We should take the high road and say "We won't expose any gay Democrat".
That way, we look like we're allowing people their privacy, and voters will just assume most of the Dems are gay... ;)
CREEPY LIAR!
All I can say is if we have enough morons that fall for this crap to lose an election in our party we deserve to lose.
It makes me angry. It doesn't make me want to not vote.
Frankly, having him on TV is probably good for us.
Maybe the Democrats will start "exposing" all the Republicans with Hispanic and African-American ancestry next. I'm sure Liberals think the base is racist because we oppose Affirmative Action and Open Borders. So let's enjoy the Democrats antics as they continue to destroy themselves.
That said, it's nobody's business what consenting adults do in private- key words being adult, consenting, and private. Go that? Leave the kids out of it, and be discreet, and I will leave you all alone.
I personally find "outing" offensive and obnoxious in the extreme, no matter who is doing it.
I am a broken glass Republican. Hell, I am even going to vote to idiot Tom Kean Jr. in November.
The quickest way to put this Foley scandal behind us is for Foley to switch parties. The story would die an instant death and Foley would get his reputation back to boot. Nothing scandalous about being a "Democrat" perv.
He's right on this - Foley was originally a democrats and ran several times as one... When he couldn't get elected as a democrat he switched parties. It seems his primary political belief was he wanted a powerful job.
If Foley and the other closeted gays were to switch parties the MSM would instantly give them a pass - for anything and everything. If they were hitting on children - it would be "just about sex" once again. Dems would laugh and whoop it up - they would be the ever so cool and we'd be the uptight anti-sex party. Liberal hypocrites turn on a dime if these guys become dems... The MSM would consider the pervs heroes, the dems in the House could stand and applaud them, and the issue would be over.
The Dems don't care. They are only doing this because they know we do care. They are attempting to take away moral leverage.
Of course. This is proof they will do anything to win. I only wish Hastert, who is doing an OK job so far with this, would get even angrier. The Dems have no shame, none.
good for you....I too, will have to crawl over the same broken glass....hold my nose....and vote for this idiot...how he could make the statements he has viv a vis iraq/hastert are beyond me.....if he thinks he is gaining votes ... he is as stupid as the lib/dems portray him to be....it has been quoted and re-quoted since Cicero, "it is far better to be thought a fool than to open one's motuh and remove all doubt!"
