DALLAS The only debate of the Texas governor's race Friday rarely pushed the four major candidates beyond their campaign rhetoric as they tried to portray each other as unfit for the state's highest office.
The statewide televised event before a panel of journalists was more of a joint news conference than a debate, but the candidates did snipe at each other over taxes, toll roads, ethics and racially tinged remarks.

Strayhorn made a fool of herself.
Bell turned out to be the non-entity that the polls have been showing.
Name of the week did make a point about the property tax "reduction", but the gov ain't the dictator. However his commercial on the reduction is right out of the stock yard. Otherwise she came off like the loon she is.
So yup, I'd say Perry won by not losing. What a poor pool to choose from this year.
And please, all supporters of the Kinkster please explain his policy positions on _anything_ and explain how it's good policy. That is other than being a clown that doesn't have a grasp on a long neck, much less the issues of the state. Maybe he should be the minister of semi-funny quips, but gov material?
