FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 06, 2006

CONTACT: Brendan Daly/Jennifer Crider 202-226-7616 Pelosi: Democrats’ New Direction Rewards Work, Not Just Wealth

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on the tepid jobs report released today that showed only 51,000 jobs, just one-third of those needed to keep pace with population growth, were created in September, while real wages have remained stagnant over the last three years. This week, House Democratic Leaders are delivering major speeches throughout the country to outline Democrats' commitment to restoring the economic security of middle-class families, with speeches today by Congressmen Rahm Emanuel in Chicago, James Clyburn in Cincinnati, and Charles Rangel in Princeton, N.J.

“President Bush and Republicans continue to claim that the economy is on the right track, with President Bush saying today’s jobs report is ‘more good news.’ This once again demonstrates how out of touch the Republicans are, because the U.S. economy is not delivering for middle-class families.

“Corporate profits are up, but the incomes of middle-class families have declined for five straight years. People are working more productively than ever but their purchasing power is down. The cost of everything from housing, to health care, to energy is making it harder than ever to make ends meet, tightening the middle-class squeeze. The Dow is up, but people’s retirements are less secure than ever. This economy is making the super-rich richer, and leaving middle-class American families further behind.

“Republicans have no plan for middle-class families and the kitchen table issues they are facing. Instead, they continue to deliver tax subsidies to Big Oil, tax breaks for the wealthy, and record deficits for American taxpayers.”

“Democrats are offering a New Direction that rewards work, not just wealth and expands opportunity and economic security to all Americans. We will raise the minimum wage, repeal current tax incentives that serve to export American jobs overseas, and enact middle-class tax cuts to spur economic growth and encourage businesses to invest in research and development.”

The cure for any potential losses due to the Foley matter is letting the Democrats speak about what they'll do if they get back in power.

Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell should be required reading before being allowed to register to vote.

Gotta love it. The RATS are coming off the Foley non-scandal scandal by wanting to raise taxes if they get into power.

"House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on the tepid jobs report released today that showed only 51,000 jobs, just one-third of those needed to keep pace with population growth, were created in September,"

Half of our population is supposed to be out of work by now with no apparent effect on the jobless rate.

Oh God, another bumper sticker slogan.

It's government by bumper sticker.

Yeah, and when you shake with Mother and Grandmother Pelosi, make sure you count your fingers afterwards.

These politcal types with LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY, who never have to worry much about paying taxes (because of all those investments and tax shelters and off-shore bank accounts, with family money and ranches and avocado farms, etc.), make me SICK when they talk about how THEY are going to make it all better for the rest of us. THEY have the answers, and if those answers don't happen to work out during their term of "service", well, too bad. That's just the way it goes; maybe NEXT time they'll get it right (it's Bush's fault, after all). These idiots (Pelosi and her ilk included) could NEVER live on my salary. That would last them MAYBE a week. They are all full of s*$t as far as I am concerned.

Oops, let me fix this to make it more truthful:

“Democrats are offering the Same Old Indirection That's Already Failed that demonizes business success and wealth. Indeed, if democrats could outlaw wealth so that everything would become property of the state, we would. Instead, we will force businesses to lay off employees since they cannot be allowed to pay an economically proper wage, attempt to punish companies for surviving and probably drive out more companies in the process, and enact across the board tax raises to stifle the economy but maybe if you're lucky the middle class will get a slightly smaller raise. Oh and we will outlaw poverty. That is all.”

Class warfare again--it never ends for RATS.

If you are a Democrat HS dropout fathering children with teenagers, you may have few exciting career options.
Investors fund capitalism. Leave it to RATS to Pi-- on a rising DOW.

Their lips ar moving, and some sound is coming out, but I STILL don't understand what they are trying to say.

Somewhere, there must be a Dem'crat-English and English-Dem'crat dictionary, but I have never seen one.

I saw that piece linked on Drudge--Pelosi crowing (appropriate word) about how things would change if she were in charge. COuldn't get through the piece without talking about "modifying" Bush's tax cuts.

Democrats--the ultimate weapon against the Democrat Party!
