Another missive from the war hero.
Dear Friend,
If any state represents the promise of new Democratic leadership it is New Hampshire. That's why I will be in Manchester next Friday, October 13 to support the Democratic Party. Please join me.

With deep support from citizens practicing the kind of grassroots politics that New Hampshire is famous for -- the kind that America needs more of -- John Lynch and outstanding New Hampshire Democrats were elected in 2004. Now it's time to build on that progress, re-elect Governor Lynch, and elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will help him get things done for New Hampshire. Imagine what John could do for New Hampshire with Democratic majorities in the state legislature. And imagine how refreshing it would be to have Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter serving in the Congress and fighting for change in Washington, DC.
On Friday, October 13, the New Hampshire Democratic Party will be hosting this year's "Keep New Hampshire Blue" Jefferson-Jackson Dinner at the Armory, Center of NH, 700 Elm St. in Manchester. It promises to be a wonderful and fun evening. You will be inspired by Governor John Lynch and other New Hampshire leaders on the program. And I look forward to seeing old friends and having the chance to share some thoughts and ideas with you when I give the keynote speech.

The Roundtable pre-dinner reception begins at 5:30 p.m., and the main event begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event range from $50 to $250. All proceeds from this event will benefit Democratic candidates running up and down the ticket in races across the state. Your participation at this dinner will make an important difference in this final month of the campaign.

I hope you can join me next week. With your support, we can keep New Hampshire blue.
Sincerely,
John Kerry

Only for the easily amused.
Oh, how I can't wait for liberalism to implode in New England so it can go back to its freedom-loving roots. It is physically one of the most beautiful regions of the country, and I wish my daughter could grow up enjoying the quiet hills and actual non-extreme seasons (cold but not frigid in the winter, warm but not sweltering in the summer). I miss being able to smell fresh-cut grass and flowers on the summer breeze (it's too damn hot here in TX for that, plus the cut grass here smells sour when you can smell it).
Never mind, at least this will give hillary a few ulcers.
We New Hampshire citizens have a word for people from "the commonwealth" that enter our once predominantly RED state. However, the rules of this forum prohibit me from expressing myself in those words.
I should add, though, that the political climate in TX is one of the more sane in the country. If the upper midwest were not so arctic in the winter, I'd consider living there, but tales from a fellow soldier who hailed from Kansas, telling of rock-hard bare ground in the winter, with the only snow found in gigantic snowdrifts behind the few high-profile objects in the area, plus single-file lines of birds huddled behind treetrunks, frozen solid, kind of turned me off. New England gets enough moisture to be green, unlike the arid intermountain region or the upper plains (The only other really conservative regions of the country).
I was exiled from Idaho and fled to NH after 44 years of living in the slave state, the people are very nice and polite, they remind me of Southerners in an acerbic Yankee sort of way.
Yeh, I know. I used to live in Nashua. I moved out in 2002 after liberal government effects on the local jobs market severely crippled the post-9/11 recovery. If new England were to swing conservative again, the business climate would simply skyrocket (witness what the 128 corridor was like pre-9/11 even under the horrible Mass legislature). And then I could afford both politically and financially to move back. I can swing the financially part now, but the job market is still soft, and don't even get me started on the politics. NH may be libertarian, but all the beantowners who move just north of the border to escape the mess they made of their own state are making the same mess in NH.
