(CNN) -- The family of a Louisiana teenager who reported "sick" e-mails from former Rep. Mark Foley called their son a hero Thursday and said they want reporters to go away.
Foley resigned last week after Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a left-leaning watchdog group, posted some of the e-mails he exchanged with the former male page in 2005, who was then 16 and had worked for Rep. Rodney Alexander, a Louisiana Republican.
The family's statement calls the e-mails "ambiguous" and expresses support for Alexander.

I didn't think anyone knew who the email recipient was, only the original IM guy.
But in this mess, I may have just missed it LOL.

male page in 2005, who was then 16 Yeah....I am so sure his family got his age wrong.
Those are the added words of the CNN dipstick who hasn't got the word from ABC about the age.
No wonder CNN is tanking.

The e-mail kid wasn't the adult IM kid. The e-mail kid is likely 17. FReepers certainly know that.

Actually this is a different kid than the one that pulled the IM prank. The 16 year old got the e-mails.

No, that's what Moses said to the Pharaoh in Exodus. It just struck me as funny in the above context.

As a young man with integrity who had the courage to question the intention of the e-mails, we respect and honor our son as a hero. I don't think the kid is a hero. But the media can be a huge PITA. I think the parents are fooling themselves that the media will grant them the privacy that they're asking for.

This kids parents asked that Foley no longer contact him and apparently Foley didn't so Hastert did his job but the MSM is not satisfied with that. "Hero Son"? That's a little dorky but what would one expect from proud parents?

Records indicate he was born Feb 23, 1985. What was the date of the IM messages?

I am not misrepresenting anything. I have been excoriated on this board for my position. For some reason some of the people on this board are blaming the 16 yr old kid (just look at the comments here) ABC, dimocrats, the "18" yr old doing the IM's, and I have even seen some wanting to see if Foley can "un-resign" after Drudge broke the news that it was a prank.
My position has been consistent from all along. The Republican leadership failed to fully investigate this dirtbag after his parents complained. I don't care that his parents did not want it pursued. If you have a 52 yr old gay congressman sending creepy e-mails to a 16 yr old boy and red flags don't pop up you have your head in the sand!

What's so sad is if freepers can't keep the story straight in their heads ("overly friendly" email recipient versus lurid IM recipients), how do we expect the average voter to? That's why we're screwed.
Well, for this week at least.

FYI
Read this article .....
"Law enforcement officials said then that the e-mails did not provide enough evidence of a possible crime to warrant a full investigation. In the e-mails, Foley praises the physical attributes of one page and asks another teenager for his picture.
In subsequent days, unidentified Justice and FBI officials told reporters that the e-mails provided by CREW were heavily redacted and that the group refused to provide unedited versions to the FBI. One law enforcement official -- speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation -- also told The Washington Post the FBI believed that CREW may have received the e-mails as early as April and that the group refused to tell the FBI how they were obtained."
