McCain vs. the deep South and Midwest conservatives. McCain loses.

Condi Rice is the Anti-McCain. She will beat McCain, and will then beat whomever the Donks put up. She will be our next President of the United States, and we could do much, much worse.

George Allen first needs to win re-election, which he'll do, but his performance in this year's campaign hasn't raised his stature as a presidential contender. Mitt Romney stands the best chance of any that are listed. Most of the rest haven't distinguished themselves enough to even be considered as possibilities. And why do you give Rudy short-shrift? If he declares himself in, he's automatically the frontrunner.

There is one thing I am certain about regarding the 2008 contest...aliens will land on the White House lawn before John McCain ever gets the Republican nomination.

McCain has no shot. The 4 left standing are Guiliani, Newt, Romney, and Allen. All leave something to be desired. Rudy is too far to the lleft on social issues, Newt has serious personal baggage, Romney is a Mormon (I couldn't care but the media will have a field day and make the Mormons look like Scientologists), and Allen melted under the spotlight.
Nevertheless are best shot is Allen with Rudy on the undercard IMHO. Rudy would put NJ and NY into play and will do well in cities where GOP do poorly.

McCain will be 72 years old in 2008, too far down the pike to be President IMHO.

I would be more concerned with getting a good anti-hillary than with anti-McCain. Despite some recent speculations, L.U.Cifer is not running.

But, you know what? Let's concentrate on the election that is in 4 weeks instead of the one that is in two years!

I'm going with Rudy. I know he's not a social conservative, but there are bigger issues out there besides gay marriage and abortion. Islamic terrorists for instance. If nukes or dirty bombs go off in our major cities, all other issues quickly will become irrelevant.

If its McCain, the GOP is sunk. If he's elected, the nation is sunk. The man responsible for CFR should be in jail, not the Senate or the White House.

The Republican candidate who wins the 2008 presidential elections will not be John McCain, George Allen or Rudi Giuliani.
All three are politicians.
The people who vote Republican don't like politicians, these people will only elect a man of courage and resolve, a man who can and will protect our boarders.
A man like Condi Rice.

I think many of us Republicans are rather PO'ed at the current Republicans in office. They have not championed those things we stand for and they can't get anything passed even though they control both houses. To me, this means that those of us with core beliefs want someone who is familiar with "the ropes" in Washington, but is not presently part of the establishment. I think that's why Newt and Rudi have a real shot at it. McCain is just too far to the left for some of us.

after this fiasco there can be no doubt that we have to have a strong social conservative in 2008.
