According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

No, Brian Ross read the IM's to him over the phone (according to reports) and then Foley resigned.
Some people seem to be thinking that this means the IM's are fake. That does not seem to be the case.
you could look at foley and tell he was gay... no big deal that he's gay.. but he looks it..

I agree that this guy probably needed to say something that would let him deny he is gay. And it turns out it was a "conservative" staffer. So the media has tomorrow's headline: "Mark Foley Victim of Conservative Gay Baiting: Career Destroyed by Homophobia and Teenagers' Cruelty." The story now will be how the evil conservative right wing (perhaps even Rove) destroyed the life of this upstanding gay Republican.

Because he is gay and will lose his conservative base voters? Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think he was known to be gay by his constituents.
I think because he's been ducking and denying about being gay for years. The emails and IM's...whether to an 18 year old or a 50 year old, erased any questions of his not being gay. I can't imagine how he must have felt as his world was coming down around him. I know he brought it on himself and we're better off with him out of the Congress but I can't help but feel some pity for the guy.

It's a distraction... I know for a fact other news will come out tonight or tomorrow... and another 'outing' Friday... as per lib and gay sites... who've planned this for a while. While I counter-op... I plan on being prepared... lock Foley up if you have to... with proof.

This ended as another attempted coup via an election based on lies and spins by the MSM, the rats in power and Pelosi et al.
If there turns out to be some "beef" here, they can't possibly ignore it - it'd be like trying to conceal a sunrise.

Hope so too. But at least Drudge says the info is from two different sources close to Edmund. That's two more sources than the drive-by media has had before reporting their sludge.
