Man accused of holding stepdaughter captive.
Brownsville police are seeking the communitys help in finding a 54-year-old man accused of holding his teenage stepdaughter captive for at least two months in a travel trailer on Thomas Street.
Juan Miguel Medrano Jr., who is an undocumented immigrant, is sought on a warrant charging him with abandoning a child, ag-gravated sexual assault of a child, and unlawful restraint, police said.
Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique said investigators depend on the publics help in cases such as Medranos.
The public is our best resource to bring people in, Manrrique said.
Police have no clues as to Medranos whereabouts, and they are hoping Brownsville and Matamoros residents who have spotted Medrano will contact them.
Medrano was last seen Monday, which was the same day police found the girl locked inside the trailer.
Police said Medranos last known address is 315 Thomas Street. He is also known to frequent an area behind the 100 block of West Van Buren Street. He reportedly gets around by riding a bicycle.
The girl, who is from Mexico, is currently being cared for at a womens shelter. She was found Monday locked inside the small trailer.
Police said the girl was delirious and not in her right mind.
Officers entered the residence on Thomas Street following a welfare concern made to a U.S. Customs officer at Gateway Interna-tional Bridge from the girls mother on Monday morning.
The woman told officers that the girls stepfather was refusing to let family members visit the girl.
Police do not know if the girls mother and stepfather are still married.
The 14-year-old girl had reportedly come to Brownsville from Mexico about five months ago so she could attend school, police said.
During the first three months, the family had been allowed to visit the girl, but that reportedly changed to months later.
Police urge people with information on Medranos whereabouts to contact Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (361)546-TIPS.

Why not use the word "illegal" instead of "undocumented"? It sure rolls off the tongue easier.

"Illegal Immigrant" sex offender works for me. Although not PC, it does indeed roll off the tongue asier. "Mexican Criminal" sex offender is a close second. Choose your fave Disambiguator.
This guy was most likely just here to build buildings and grow food.
