Istook aide may be victim in page scandal
By Chris Casteel, Nolan Clay and Michael McNutt The Oklahoman
Copyright 2006, The Oklahoman A former U.S. House page working on the gubernatorial campaign of Republican Rep. Ernest Istook may be a part of the scandal involving former Congressman Mark Foley, The Oklahoman has learned.
The former page, a Californian named Jordan Edmund, on Wednesday hired Enid attorney Stephen Jones to represent him, the attorney confirmed.
Jones would not say exactly why he was hired, but did say, I understand the FBI and the House Ethics committee have an interest in the matter ... the allegations concerning Congressman Foley which have surfaced.
Foley, a Republican from Florida, resigned abruptly on Friday after it was learned that he exchanged sexually explicit e-mails with former pages. The FBI is investigating.
Istooks campaign manager, Chip Englander, who is also from California, declined comment Wednesday to an Oklahoman reporter.

Kindly take one of the words 'attorney' out of the title...ty
Maybe it'll work out the same as it did for McVeigh....
Yes, curious indeed.
Wonder where he gets the funds to hire someone like Stephen Jones?
Steven Jones did a great job for Timoth McVeigh. He said "Screw it, kill me." [/sarcasm off]

He needs a criminal defense lawyer hmm?
I thought the page in question was from La, not Ca
He has now been identified as a 21 year old graduate student at Berkeley. (What I'd like to know is, how old was he at the time of the alleged e-mails? If he was over 18 . . . well, that changes a lot of things.)
I read Jones' book on the McVeigh trial. Very interesting. McVeigh didn't want to be defended and wouldn't tell Jones who else was involved. Jones came up with some very interesting evidence. I never really could get past the feeling that Jones' defense was really just a big conspiracy theory, though.
Yeah, I know. John Doe Number One, Number Two, Twenty eight, whatever. I know McVeigh wanted to die a matryr and he got his wish.
The question here is how does a kid out of UC Berkeley afford one of the most expensive lawyers in the country? I think the answer will surprise us but wouldn't it be cool if the obvious George Soros speculation turned out to be true?
Nice touch! Somebody whack this prick before he exposes us to further embarrassment. (pardon my flaccid puns)
Istook doesn't need this crap.
Because somebody thinks he's worth it.
Exactly...and perhaps "somebody" wants him to be careful when talking to the FBI. IOW, if this guy has no involvement and is simply a "victim" why wouldn't some local yocal lawyer be adequate? Why Steven Jones? Inquiring minds want to know...
