Hastert was the one most cited by the Clown Car Media (CCM) but Democrats from Pelosi on down screamed just as loud. But the media, as always, will give most attention to whatever Republican pipes up to support their viewpoint. If tomorrow some obscure, back bencher Republican were to say Hastert should resign, the CCM would suddenly make him the most famous and quoted Republican in the House.
First, he was the republican majority leader coming out against a raid on a democrat's office. I would EXPECT his voive to be the loudest because (1) he's the majority leader (2) it crossed party lines. That's news.

And you hit the nail on the head...the media is purposely trying to confuse the line between the IMs and the e-mails. One article I saw spoke of Hastert knowing of the "inappropriate communications," referring as anyone who knows this story understands to the e-mails. But this makes it sound like that includes the IMs. No attempt to distinguish is made, a courtesy that would be extended to any Democrat by their media friends to mitigate the damage if this situation involved Democrats.
In this tactic, the media and the Dems. are AGAIN reading off the same playbook in trying to confuse the issue. This is Exhibit 5,434,765 in the case to prove the media's vile bias.

"The FBI admits it had copies of Mark Foley's e-mails in July but it says it did not follow up because House Republicans said they would handle the matter. Now investigators will determine if Foley violated the law."
Is it legal for the FBI to not follow up? Isn't it their mission to do follow ups?

The FBI had three teams look at the EMAILS, and saw nothing illegal. Didnt see the IMs.

There is snowballing excitement on the left. The excitement has one focus, impeachment. Not boys, not Nov., not Iraq. Impeachment. This is it. They can taste it. They will kill like savages.

OK, a primer for CBS.
In our form of government we have three branches, the judicial, the executive and the legislative. The FBI is part of the executive branch and they report to the chief executive, that would be the POTUS. The legislative branch has absolutely no constitutional power to encroach on the powers of the executive branch meaning they can no more halt an FBI investigation than Gloria Borger can.

The emails aren't the problem--it's the IMs. No one knew about the IMs until Friday. Believe me, the RATs knew and months ago. Instead of disclosing earlier to protect what might be a crime, they held it up for the November elections. Dang, what turds these RATs are. They are insane.

three days ago the report was that the FBI look at the e-mails that Hastert saw and did not find anything criminal in it that warrant investigation.
Isn't the FBI still saying the same thing? If the FBI had thought the matter was criminal, they wouldn't have left it up to the Republican leadership, which is not a law enforcement body.

somebody better tell the CLYMERS that their little guy was 18 years old when this happen! They know, Rose, that's why the CBS types use the word "young" instead of "minor" to describe the person. Their intent is to mislead the viewers about gay activity/criminal activity.

Regardless of what the FBI did or didn't do, the House leadership should have acted. But they didn't.They did, where have you been?

ATTKISSON: This isn't the first time there's been a page scandal on Capitol Hill. In 1983, two members of Congress were censured for having illicit sexual affairs with young pages.I like how she throws this in--with zero details about the SODOMY involved--at the very end of ther piece.
To: SolidSupplySide
Can you trust what the FBI says?
Probably not. They spent tens of millions of dollars on the anthrax attack and came up with nothing ~ mostly because they never bothered asking anyone with postal operations knowledge what was "normal" and what wasn't.

Plus the RATs set out from the beginning to purposely confuse the issue by describing all of the communications as "e-mails", they've got the MSM on board to execute their deception, and then they timed the release of the IMs to make Hastert look foolish. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but this one has "RDT" (RAT Dirty Tricks) engraved all over it.

"..this is backfiring BIG TIME on these moronic ahole Dems. Really? If so, why does our party look so bad? If the leadership had acted from day one, this would not be a story.
To: RoseofTexas
Yup, he was over 18 when the text messages ocured. The most the dems can now say is, "position of authority!!!"
But two things:
1. He was no longer a page, hence position of aouthority fails.
2. Clinton and lewinsky. Position of authority.
