Every penny increase in gas prices was touted as Bush's fault, blah blah. People hocking their wedding rings so they could buy gas.

Couric talking about the hardship to buy gas for her van.......puke.

OH well. I think we're gonna lose the House. Maybe the Senate, too. We won't get it back any time soon, either, I'm afraid.

Foley Scandal: Tom Reynolds (R-NY) Chief of Staff Tried to Cover Up IM's
Donklephant ^ | October 3, 2006 | Justin Gardner

Posted on 10/03/2006 12:54:21 PM PDT by gopwinsin04

It’s confirmed. Congressman Tom Reynolds’ (R-NY) chief of staff, Kirk Fordham, tried to broker a secret deal last Friday to get ABC News to cover up the worst part of the Foley predator scandal.

Howie Kurtz in the Washington Post wrote about this in this morning’s Washington Post, though at the time Kurtz didn’t name names - he simply referred to the deal-maker as a “former chief of staff” to Mark Foley. It’s subsequently been confirmed by Kurtz, that the individual who reportedly tried to broker the cover-up deal was Congressman Reynolds’ own chief of staff (and former Foley chief of staff), Kirk Fordham

And so now we must ask, did Reynolds know this?

I don't have a life, so I read a lot. It's all in one of the thousands of threads on this topic here, somewhere.

Ok, so the guy derided as a liar for denying he tried to kill the ABC stroy is now a truth teller for saying he warned leadership years ago???? Something not adding up.

I wonder if this has something to do with the rumoured "list" going around. Hannity mentioned it-that a list is circulating of homosexuals in congress and homosexual staff members. Apparently they are trying to clean house and expose a cabal of homosexuals in government that work to protect each other and were involved in trying to protect Foley.

Unless I see absolute proof from the lefties, or anyone else for that matter, that Hastert knew about the full content of any emails sent by Foley, then I, or anyone else, should reserve their judgment of Hastert and believe what he has said. Right now, all I see is Democrat hypocrisy and disgruntled ex-Republican employees making accusations. And accusations are as good as the paper their written on.

Rep. Alexander has "clarified" his comments. When he said he talked to "hastert" he meant "Hastert's STAFF".

So I'm falling back in line on Hastert. Although I don't think it would hurt for him to term-limit himself out of the speakership, because fresh blood isn't a bad thing and keeps power from collecting and decaying.

good enough for me, your analysis is succinct and makes a lot of sense.

I used it as irrefutable logic elsewhere on the 'net today.

The List? Just rumours I heard, nothing linkable. Something about a list going around media outlets of homosexual members of congress and homosexual staff that may have worked to protect Foley and others. The "Corn" guy who wrote the book about Plame apparently was talking about it according to Hannity.

"Fordham spoke to the AP after ABC News quoted unidentified GOP sources as insinuating that he had intervened on behalf of Foley, his former boss, to prevent an inquiry into Foley's conduct.

"This is categorically false," Fordham said. "At no point ever did I ask anyone to block any inquiries into Foley's actions or behavior."

Was Fordham part of "the list":

It is starting to look like Fordham is part of the setup.

Did Fordham Out Foley To Aravosis?
Our reader Enlightened referred us to this July, 2004 story about the Gestapo like efforts of Mike Rogers and John Aravosis to threaten and blackmail gay staffers and elected officials to take sides they wanted on certain bills being debated - especially the Federal Marriage Act. One of the first staffers had this to say about the tactics

Tolman said he questioned the morality of the outing campaign.

“The agenda behind this outing seems to be kind of fascist. It says to me: Because you don’t subscribe to our personal idea, because you don’t choose to push sexual politics over environmental, we’re going to punish you.

Well, there are other things you can acquire through blackmail. But this article clearly states the person who ‘outted’ Rep Mark Foley was his Chief of Staff: Kirk Fordham:

Over in the House, Republican Mark Foley said in March that he would vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment — one week after his spokesperson said he would not take a position on the measure until it came up for a House vote.

Despite Foley’s FMA opposition, Aravosis purported to out Foley as well, taking him to task for supporting President Bush, who endorsed the measure late last winter. Labeling Foley as “our latest closeted gay hypocrite,” Aravosis said Foley made the list for putting politics ahead of his own community by “whoring for an anti-gay president.”

Aravosis said he obtained the latest information about the five-term congressman from Foley’s former chief of staff, Kirk Fordham.

Fordham denied ever speaking with Aravosis and said, “I just don’t discuss Congressman Foley’s personal life with reporters, but I’m not sure what their motive is in outing him, other than to draw attention to themselves. Foley has a good track record with gay issues and opposes the FMA.”

Now who in their right mind would call Rogers and Aravosis ‘reporteres’? Is this a Clintonesque denial? Why would Aravosis claim it was Fordham as his source? What would be the motivation?
