A political and judiciary battle has broken out in Spain after EL MUNDO newspaper revealed two weeks ago that a forensic report related to a substance found in the search of the house of Hasan Haski, one of the masterminds, according to the Official Version, of the 3/11 attack, has been manipulated in order to avoid naming ETA.
Surprisingly, two judiciary processes to investigate the matter had been opened, one in the ordinary courts and the other in the National High Court, by Judge Baltasar Garzón.
Judge Garzón moved swiftly summoning the three forensic experts who had denounced that his report, about the analysis performed to the boric acid found, has been substituted with another not naming ETA.
Although they were called as witnesses and they gave testimony without their lawyers, Judge Garzón, astonishingly, decided to charge them with forgery. He argued that the report the forensic experts have presented was not the original, but that was printed on July 11th 2006 and signed again by all three of them, when they acknowledge the first one has been substituted.
His Honor also replied sarcastically to one of the experts, when she showed him data to support Bibliographic search as a common task in such reports, that some of those papers will soon be seen published by EL MUNDO.
Immediately Judge Garzón ordered a search in the three forensic experts working posts. This search was carried out during the afternoon of day 29th. Expert Escribano stayed in Judge Garzón hands for more than 30 hours.
The mass media rapidly amplified the news: Police 'faked Madrid massacre report to link ETA', as expatica.com, a website that in the last months only publishes news about 3/11 when they are in line with the Socialist version of what happened, shows.
The counter attack continued furiously during the weekend. In the press, both pro-Socialist newspaper El País, and conservative ABC, shared the same point of view.
However, Judge Garzón search in the forensic experts working posts yielded only more evidences supporting their previous denounce. The agents found in a diskette belonging to that Scientific Police Unit, the report 48-Q3-05 with the observations pointing to ETA. Moreover, they found a notebook hand-written by forensic expert Escribano in which on March 22nd 2005 he noted down the remarks his boss Ramírez did to it, asking to eliminate any link towards ETA.
Escribano has worked during 18 years as forensic expert of the Police, writing around 1,000 reports about substances related to explosives. Only once he has been asked to change one of them.
Pivoting on a Saturday rally in Seville under the slogan We Want the Truth. Surrender, Not in my Name about 3/11 and the negotiation process with ETA, which congregated between 40,000 and 400,000 Spaniards; EL MUNDO newspaper fought back: the report 48-Q3-05, with the annotation that linked 3/11 with other terrorist acts, was presented by Escribano in October 2005 as a merit in a report asking Interior Minister Alonso for a medal.
The forensic experts cite former Socialist Interior Minister Alonso as witness to prove the true report was theirs.
Moreover, Ramírez, the chief police officer that signed the forensic report that finally was sent to Judge Del Olmo, investigating 3/11, wasnt allowed to do that, because he is not a forensic expert himself. Only forensic experts, and only the ones that personally have carried out the analysis, can sign them, according to Spanish law.
On the judiciary front, the National High Court itself has ruled that his associated Judge Garzón cannot investigate the case, because forgery investigations should be examined in ordinary courts, where a proceeding is already opened; and not in the National High court, that judges offenses related to terrorism and drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, Judge Garzón has travelled to Colombia to act as an observer in the peace process between the government and paramilitary groups.
Before the echoes of the previous salvos died away, EL MUNDO fired again yesterday: Abdelkrim Benesmail, whose terrorist cell comrade, Allekhema Lamari, is a perpetrator of 3/11 according to the Official Version; was found during a search in the prison where he is jailed in possesion of a note on which the composition of cloratite, a home made explosive sometimes used by ETA, was written down.
The components were in the exact same proportions than the cloratite employed by ETA.
Algerian Abdelkrim Benesmail is linked with Socialist Party Official and Spanish Secret Service collaborator Fernando Huarte, as well as four ETA members also jailed, among others, bloodthirsty gunman born in Algiers Henri Parot.
Judge Baltasar Garzón, Spain's most senior anti-terrorist judge, as State owned EFE agency says and expatica.com translates, was included in the 1993 National Elections as the second Socialist Parliamentary in the Madrid list (in Spain lists are used to vote), just after president González. He renounced to his political post less than one year later.
He was the investigating judge in the process against the Spanish cell of Al Qaeda, in which those persons were accused not only of belonging to a terrorist organization, but of preparing 9/11 (although the 9/11 Report said that there was no evidence supporting that claim).
He based this indictment on a meeting between the leader of the cell and Mohamed Atta and a video; that proved to be a tourist amateur record on New York highlights.
The charges on preparing 9/11 were dismissed during the trial and in an appeal to the Supreme Court.
On the morning of March 11th 2004, he appeared at Atocha station, although the investigations were already on Judge Del Olmo hands. He did not give up until the National High Court confirmed this in a ruling that afternoon.
Jamal Zougham, one of the perpetrators of 3/11, according to the Official Version, had his mobile phone and business phone numbers being taped months before the attack happened, due to a judicial order issued by Judge Garzóns office.
After Judge Garzón boasted before the Commission of Investigation of 3/11, that it was clear for him from the first moment that it was an Islamist attack; he asked for a sabbatical year, which he spent in American universities. Last June he returned to his post at the National High Court.
Spanish president of the Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero also declared before the Commission of Investigation that in the summary of 3/11 there was not a link pointing towards ETA.
Indeed, they were removed.

No entiendo. They faked a report to make it look like ETA was involved in the 3/11 bombing? Or not? Or to make it look like ETA is involved with the Islamic terrorists?
More about 3/11. It might look like Chavez' Venezuela, but they are simply European Socialists.
I think ... it says that they faked a report by leaving out a reference to the ETA. What? Did the ETA supply al Quaeda, then? I don't understand either. (Although if I read the entire article carefully, I might...).
Can you succinctly state what the issue(s) is (are) here. This seems to be a very important story, but my poor (I was schooled in California) reading comprehension does not allow me to understand the big picture.
What is ETA?
ETA is a leftist group that uses terrorism in hopes of forming an independent Basque state in parts of northern Spain and southwest France. ETA stands for Euskadi ta Askatasuna, which means Basque Fatherland and Liberty in the Basque language.
Who are the Basques?
The Basques are a linguistically and culturally distinct Christian group that has lived since the Stone Age in the mountainous region that straddles the border between modern-day Spain and France.
Bump for later. Looks...interesting
Well, succintly:
Very probably 3/11 was carried out by ETA, although Secret Services are not discarded. The Socialist won the elections saying it was Al Qaeda, and now those Socialists get tachycardic when any link between ETA and 3/11 resurfaces.
If you have time, read the previos posts. There are lots of data on the links. I warn you the plot is complicated and evidences are subtle. It is the real world and not Hollywood.
The previous government of Spain, that of Aznar, was a very loyal supporter of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq; Aznar is a political conservative and a very decent man.
He had troops in both theaters, the Spanish contingent in Iraq was a significant deployment. He fought ETA (the Basque terrorists) all during his time in office.
When the bombs went off, his first belief was that the Basques were at fault, primarily because they had caught Basques trying to do just that previously. When evidence was discovered of arab involvement, the Left went crazy, accusing Aznar of lying, and claiming that his pro-US policy was at fault for the attacks. Since the bombing occurred only a couple of days before the elections, the people in their shock and grief voted for his opponent, and the Left took power. Since then it has been in their interest to down-play the obvious, which is that its not either-or, the Basques and the arabs collaborated on the attacks.
Meanwhile the new government has pulled Spanish troops out of Iraq, they've started negotiations with all the various regional independence movements within Spain, they've brought in all the usual leftist moral degeneracy (homosexual marriage, for example). Spain voted out one of the best presidents they ever had, and voted in a clown of the first order, and he owes his presidency to the bombers and his party's well-prepared propaganda campaign that almost seems like it was prepared in advance.
Thanks for an update. It would be amazing if it was not so sad.
BTTT
Thank you very much; I'll be reading.
This is a terribly important issue -- please keep us all informed of new developments. Sounds like the socialist weasels pulled off a "journalists' coup d'etat" with propaganda........
