Dolores Umbridge - my personal favorite! Book 6, but will reappear in 7 in a minor role

She sounds like an idiot.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It is idiotic to attempt to reform the government schools, and this is what this woman is attempting to do.

The **solution** is to work toward the abolition of government schools. In a completely private system this idiotic mother would either find a private school that upheld her religious beliefs, or she would do as she does in other areas of her private life. She would compromise.

No matter what the government does in this case, either allow or disallow Harry, the government will uphold the religious beliefs of some while trashing those of others. This is true, not only in this case, but for hundreds of other issues as well.

Government schools and the First Amendment can not co-exist.

Solution: Begin the process of privatizing universal K-12 education.

Order of the Phoenix.

(And there’s no specific indication of her being a lesbian, but she’s ugly, female, and villainous.)

don't spend money locally (they send almost all of it back to Mexico)

Actually, last time I was in Gwinnett on business (about two years ago), I had to stop at a Wal Mart and most of the shoppers were illegals. I'm sure all the Mickey Ds that they buy, to say nothing of those Toyota Tundras they were buying, were purchased in Mexico as well.

I'm not directing this at you personally, but one of the STUPIDEST arguments against illegal immigration is the lower middle class populist "they send all their money home" BS. All of my grandparents did the same, and it did not stop them from buying most of their goods locally, attending movies, etc. Let;s also not forget that the global economy is not a zero sum game/one way street. The dollar knows no fatherland, and freely circulates through several countries several times a day.

There are plenty of strong arguments against illegal immigration, remittances are not one of them. It just makes us all look like dumb goobers who are ignorant about global economics.
