Transcript of a story on the local news tonight, in which Rodney Alexander was interviewed. As far as I know this is the only time he's spoken at length about the situation.
Despite what he said at the end, I don't see this causing him any trouble this time around. He has an opponent, but it's in name only. He (or she, I don't even know which it is) has not been campaigning. Alexander has some signs up, but hasn't bothered to run any TV ads, at least none that I've seen.

An unintended consequence of this "scandal" is already showing up in the congressional cafeteria on Capitol Hill. Male members of the House and Senate have been observed eating bananas as though they were corn on the cob.

Foley should be tried. If found guilty, he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. If guilty, he is beyond any redemption.

Yep...homosexual Congressmen wouldn't do something such as Foley did...oops Foley is a closet homosexual.
Good nuff reason not to teach sexual diversity in our schools.

Out of Washington and in his Monroe office, Representative Rodney Alexander is one of the few people talking to a Monroe teenager pulled into the latest political scandal. It's a scandal that has some making threats on the young man's life. How did anyone find out the boy's name so they could make death threats? Hmmm? This story stinks of opportunism.

I agree with you Rodney will have no problem. He has a woman from Alexandria running against him(should be no problem) and a Libertarian guy. Rodney is well liked there and I think folks think he did the right thing

Party-switching for the 2004 Election
Alexander had been elected in 2002 as a Democrat, with the strong support of the state's two Democratic senators, Mary Landrieu and John Breaux, narrowly defeating Republican challenger Lee Fletcher. However, he'd seriously considered switching parties soon after John Kerry won the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, but initially decided against it. Breaux reportedly told Alexander that he would find and raise money for a Democrat to run against him if he switched.
However, two days after filing for reelection as a Democrat, Alexander filed for reelection again as a Republican with only minutes to go before the filing deadline. The Republicans promised him a seat on the Appropriations Committee if he switched. The last-minute switch denied the Democrats time to find a credible replacement candidate, though Alexander had been heavily favored for a second term in any case.

The young man in question says he wants all the media attention to just go away. "He's in school and trying to understand whats going on," U.S Congress Rep. Rodney Alexander said. "He is upset, needless to say, and his parents are concerned." FYI ping

This is the tragedy. If you look at the Dem talking points they say in point number 1 do not make a difference between emails and IMs . FOr obvious reasons. Now a lot people in the area prob think he is gay and engageous in sexual talk with Congressmen all because the "im's" are attributed to him
This is a victim of that little talking point

<< This poor kid has had death threats?

The treasonous un-and-anti-American Soros-financed Cli'ton-patronized gang willing to go to any (October-Surprise) length to cause the Republicans (And with them, America!) to lose control of both house and senate in next month's elections.
Who else would be competent -- and/or even interested -- and/or own the servers upon which it was achieved -- to save the thread of every one of these stooge kids' staged exchanges with the execrable faggot, Foley?
Whose actions and notwithsatanding their pathetic loathsomeness, pale into insignificance beside those of that Bolshy bastard, Barny Fwank, who operated a sodomists-for-hire racket from his DC house and office and beside those of the 1990s recidivist, treasonous, lying, looting, thieving, mass-murdering, co-serial-rapist incidental "president" who used the power of our office for the purpose of soliciting the sexual and sodomy and sucking-up services of interns with the mental and emotional capabilities of twelve-year-old children.
Screw the evil Foley.
But burn in Hell the truly evil bastard, Soros, and every last one, including all of Disney/ABC, the DNC, Rodney Alexander and Joseph Pleasant and every other of their un-and-anti-American Socialist International and islamic terrorist-supporting ilk!
Burn in Hell!

When a Monroe teenager first contacted a member of Rodney Alexander's staff about email messages from former Florida Congressman Mark Foley the young man asked the staff member not to say anything. But once a reporter contacted Representative Alexander, the congressman said he had to report the incident. Huh? Why doesn't this sound right to me?
The teenager told a staff member. Asked him not to say anything. But the staffer told the Congressman. And then the Congressman reported it to ...whom?

If this scandal evolves with an anonymous player, you can bet it is a Democrat Political operation --- just like the MD4BUSH scandal here in Maryland.

Does anyone else see the hand of a democratic operative in this drama.
