Why in English?

Are we to believe that English was Saddam's code language? Does he even speak English?

We know he can say Doritos and Cheetos, they used to be his favorites. :-)

Saddam is quite educated. He's also a lawyer ~ and the use of English as a second language was widespread throughout Iraq.

I don't know if he spoke English, but he probably did to some degree. He's quoted on the net as telling an interviewer he understands English but does not have a high degree of fluency in spoken English.
