Perhaps GOP Should Take a 'Page' Out of Democrat's Book
Human Events Online ^ | Oct 03, 2006 | Mac Johnson

Last week, we learned that Rep. Mark Foley, a Republican from Palm Beach, Fla., is a disgusting old chicken hawk possessed of such good sense that he aspired to seduce a 16-year-old male congressional page in writing—as if a Republican could possibly get away with that. About 15 seconds after that, Democrats began trying to figure out how to frame one man’s nauseating and criminal personal conduct as a national campaign issue. Hey, who says the Democrats aren’t the party of ideas anymore?

Not only is “elect us because there is a child molester” a compelling national policy argument suggesting that the Democrat leadership is developing some serious insights into both the economy and the War on Terror, but the being-disgusted-by-a-child-molester angle represents a significant policy shift for them.

Now, before I show that the second half of the above statement is a simple historical fact, let me state very clearly that NOTHING in the following documentation of wretched political hypocrisy is intended as even the wispiest defense of Mark Foley. Mark Foley is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. But I am not a court of law, and I have eyes, so I can safely and confidently say that Mark Foley is scum—a despicable little troll of a daydreaming thumb-typing instant-messaging pervert. It is right that he resigned. He should be pulled out of rehab and questioned by police immediately, then prosecuted for his “over-friendly” solicitations of pages in front of a jury consisting entirely of fathers of teenage boys and sent to prison, if convicted. Anyone who knew of his actions and who did not beat the Blackberry out of him should likewise be prosecuted.

In reality, the entire Congress needs to be cleaned out, and replaced by American patriots, controlled by TERM LIMITS.

You are correct. Marx and Engels could be considered 'founding fathers' of the current dhimmocratic party.

Marty Meehan from Massachusetts ran on term limits. Once he won, he changed his mind. ;-)

The age of sexual consent for males in both Florida and Washington DC is 16.

Which makes it no more illegal than Clinton and Lewinski.

What's worse, IMing a page or getting oral sex from an intern?

Dummycrats are currently circulating another "Bush's draft" type email about some legislation to repeal the 22nd Amendment.

No mention that all but one of the signatories is a Democrat.

The letter (I've seen it posted as a bulletin from an apolitical 'friend' on myspace) seems to be making the rounds (I did a google search to determine the politics of the signers).

The left is concerned that people in Congress could be mucking about with OUR constitution. First off, Amendment is the method OF changing the Constitution, NOT the courts. Second, if term limits on the president are such a good idea, why not also on Congress? Has Massachusettes been well served by what will be 50 years of Ted Kennedy?

There was no sex between these men and no solitication of sex.

Foley could've quoted him any of a number of Lenny Bruce comedy routines and been cited under the same criteria.

well, as we all know, someone must have printed out the IM's and it sounds like the 'Rats have been holding on the those copies of the IM's for years!

maybe Foley should just change political parties...the 'Rats sure don't have a problem with sexual deviants as long as they have a "D" after their name.

I didn't say there was. I was just pointing out a salient fact that seems to be lost on just about everyone who's reporting on this situation.

Pretty funny, I told hubby the other day.....they all need to be fired...Repubs and Dems. Wouldn't it be nice if EVERY incumbent was voted out and the newbies put term limits in? Two terms in a local/state/federal position only. No more switching from Senator to Congressman, etc. No retirement, no full time, make all offices part-time again.
No more career politicians! I would love to see them actually have to WORK for a living.

I think the media is also trying to point out (and Drudge did too) that the child protection legislation made no distinction between "age of consent" and minors.

Then again, you cannot photograph someone engaging in sex under 18 although there are plenty of states where you can legally engage in sex with someone under 18 (as long as you don't photograph it).

The law is an ass. Romero & Juliet (now also Romeo & Romeo) exceptions in many states laws permit someone who is OVER the age of consent to have sex with someone who is under the age of consent so long as they are "nearly" legal.

I don't know of any state that goes soft on charging clerks and bartenders who sell alcohol and cigarettes to people who are ALMOST able to buy.
