Russia warns US on placing missile defenses in Poland

Russia warned the United States on Tuesday against basing elements of a planned missile defense system in Poland, saying this would undermine strategic stability and require a "corresponding" response from Moscow, Interfax news agency said.

"This could have a negative impact on strategic stability, regional security and the relations between states," Interfax quoted ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin as saying in an interview.

"Such a new situation objectively requires corresponding measures from us," Kamynin said.

Your irony not in place Venezuela was the first sign Cuba will be the second. Russia becoming real independent (Yeltsin nah). Poland and Geordjia nowdays proxi of US, but this situation endin sooner or later.

I put this through the Google translator, and I still didn't get English! I think it's written in secret code, and I don't have a decoder ring.

If US place missile defenses in Poland, sooner or later Russia will place the missile defenses in Cuba.
Now you get the message?

Poland might defend itself from a massive Russian attack? Putin can't allow that.

Threat? What a threat? Do you suppose or agree that defense system can be a threat? :)))

Not really. The Russians don't like our defense system because they want to threaten us with nuclear missiles. They can go to Hell.

"Poland, once a close ally of Moscow" - is that what AFP calls it? They were under the Iron thumb of the USSR, but to the AFP, they were allies... Disgusting.

Russians the only nation who posses the nuclear missiles, yes?
The Americans don't threaten anyone with nuclear missiles, yes?
Do you hear anything about MAD?

You're stuck in the cold war. MAD is soon to be a thing of the past, comrade.

You are wrong, mister.
Neither Russia, nor US lose the ability to comblitly destroy each other.
US strikes Russia ought to retaliate, and surely will retaliate.

Well, as an American, I love being magnificently powerful. But I don't see any benefit to giving the Ruskies the big middle finger all up in their faces like this. After all, we can already hit anything anywhere. Why the blatant (and unproductive) provocation of Russia when it doesn't even increase our capabilities? Unless there is some secret advantage that is not apparent.

I'm not sure I understand your meaning. You mean hold a revolver to Russia's temple and say "Do what we say!"? I don't think that's smart foreign policy, and again I repeat, we can already hit anything anywhere.

But maybe I don't understand your meaning.

Yes, I don't think you fully understand my point. These are missle defense systems, not offensive nuclear weapons. I would not support putting offensive weapons in Poland. I believe these are designed to shoot down Russian weapons if they are launched. And I believe we are doing these because Poland is a great ally who has been oppressed by Russia for centuries; and because Russia has stood against us on Iraq and Iran and now we are putting pressure back on them. I still believe that Russia may be a bigger threat to America than anything. I hope I'm wrong, but they have not been acting like an ally.

Ah yes, yes, defenses. Well missile defense, I support that. Who can object to defensive systems, after all? And Poles are sort of "good people" we should spend our time and money on (Australians and Japanese also being in that group IMO)

So heck yeah, slap those babies in there, and screw Putin.

Agreed about Japan and Australia. They may need them more than the Poles do.

So can the US issue a "corresponding" action to Russia cutting off Georgia from civilization?

As I recall, in their incredible arrogance, they warned Bush to stay out of it.
