Representative Harold Ford (D) has taken a 48% to 43% lead over Mayor Bob Corker (R) in Tennessee's increasingly competitive race for U.S. Senate (see crosstabs).
Ford has an edge with unaffiliated voters and leads by a whopping 70% to 23% among moderates.
Ford has gained ground fast in recent weeks. A Rasmussen Reports poll conducted September 5 showed him trailing by a single point, 44% to 45%, after lagging by six points in August, twelve in July.
We are now shifting this race from the "Toss Up" to "Leans Democrat" column in the Senate Balance of Power summary. Just a few weeks ago, we had pulled it from the "Leans Republican" column.

Wow Ras released that one out of the Premium section really fast..
Whoever thought that Bob Corker was the best candidate must have attended public schools. THIS SUCKS OUT LOUD!!!!
A word to Tennessee Freepers: Don't ever vote for Van Hilleary again.
This smooth talking liar and socialist will lose.
"This smooth talking liar and socialist will lose."
One of them will, but which one?
I regard him as a greater threat than Obama.

Junior's ads against Corker have been devastating, and Corker is choosing not to respond. Corker is looking to be the worst serious GOP candidate for the Senate since the ghastly Victor Ashe (now the Ambassador to Poland) was obliterated by Gore, Jr. in 1984 when the last Majority Leader from TN retired. I hate to see history repeating itself.
This is the state that gave us Al Gore, right?
and I still read threads where freepers are proclaiming the GOP will GAIN SEATS in the senate. I've don't know what numbers they are looking at.
Rasmussen overestimates the number of "moderates" in Tennessee.
If I was a conspiracy buff, I'd wonder if Corker was a DemocRAT troll.
You were so right, he is a LOUSY candidate.
Pessimism is your religion.
actually no, I (and many other freeper realists) had it right. A narrow win for Bush.
recall on the other hand, the multitude of freepers who had convinced themselves there was going to be a landslide win for Bush - while the rest of us were sweating it out until 2AM over Ohio.
Bob Corker is a poor candidate, trailing a candidate who shouldn't be even close.
And while none of know exactly how this election will turn out, right now it doesn't look all that good. Thankfully, there still is a little time to turn that around.
I have worried about Ford winning this since I heard he was running...but, every time I hear any pundit talk about this, they are so sure this is a conservative state..they seem pretty sure that Ford won't win...
I am still pretty leery about this..

Yah, bu!!sh!t. There is no way in hell Ford has a 70-23 lead among moderates.
Corker isn't a terriffic candidate, but he still won't lose. I'm guessing Corker 52-48.
He's not a greater threat then Obama. He doesn't have the rhetorical ability. He's not horrible on that, but he's nowhere near as gifted.
Anyhow, there is NO WAY Ford has a 70-23 lead among moderates. This poll is wacked.
Corker isn't a great candidate, but in the end I'm still convinced he'll win.
Corker 52-48.
The Mason Dixon poll has Ford ahead, 43-42. Ford leads in Western TN (Memphis). Corker leads in East TN. Middle TN is undecided in the race. Thus, Corker recently opened a new Nashville office. Plus he hired Lamar!'s chief of state as his campaign manager. On ething Corker may have going for him is the anti-gay marriage amendement vote this fall. It may encourage disgruntled conservatvies to pull the lever for him.
On the flip side, the stem cell amendement in MO may harm Talent.
