QALAT, Afghanistan U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan guerrilla war can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Taliban and their supporters into the Afghan government.
The Tennessee Republican said he had learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated by military means.
"You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government," Frist said during a brief visit to a U.S. and Romanian military base in the southern Taliban stronghold of Qalat. "And if that's accomplished we'll be successful."
"Military versus insurgency one-to-one doesn't sound like it can be won. It sounds to me ... that the Taliban is everywhere."

Get a rope.
Tell me again why we should all vote Republican....
You have to be kidding me.
Good grief...this is going to go over well(rolling eyes)
Thus says the man who would be president. Hahahaha, what a clown.
Thank you, military expert, Speaker Hastert.
Yes, let's bring terrorists into the government. That has gone over so well in Lebanon and Pakistan.
Um, WHAT???????????????????????????????????????????????
Frist, not Hastert. This is so disrespecctful of our troops and our allies troops. He's a dhimmi, or maybe the taliban has a record of his emails.
"Tell me again why we should all vote Republican...."
Because, from what I've been reading on other threads, badliberal-style leadership from an (R) is better than bad, liberal-style leadership from a (D).
I don't get it either.
OBL for POTUS! And Saddam should be given back his presidency.
What does Hastert have to do with this? The article is about the SENATE. That would be Bill Frist.
Frist is not very strategically apt. He should stick with medicine, where he had a record of achievement. People who are smart or have some skill do not necessarily make good political leaders. Frist is a great example of that.
Meanwhile, president Truman's chief spokesman said that there was no truth to the rumor that a U.S. Senator was demanding that Nazi party members be allowed to enter the newly formed German government. "That's crazy talk, my good man!", he snorted.
The good news is, Frist will not be a senator after January 3, 2007. The bad news is he still has three months left to lose the war for us with his stupid grandstanding mouth.
Frist for President! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was this statement on his website?? Let's wait to check this out, this doesn't sound right.
Could someone please ask Frist if he thinks we should give Nazi's, KKK, and Black Panthers their voices in government?
You've got to be shi--ing me!!!!!!
