I know Mark Foley. Mark Foley is a friend of mine. But in all my years working with him in Congress and on TV, I could have never foreseen this kind of scandal swirling around the friendly politician.
Mark and I entered Congress together in 1994 and spent the next four terms working together on legislation and political campaigns. Rumors about Mark's homosexuality followed him from his first day in the House and I even discussed the issue with him before he launched his Senate campaign in 2003.

Well we are waiting! What exactly DOES go on up there?
As a three dollar bill....
Everyone is prey.
Come on man throw us a good story. Its the internet, no one will believe it...
If Rupert Murdoch thought having strippers read the news would enhance profits at Fox, we'd be seein' 'em nightly...
I didn't know that Joe was interested in politics again these days. I thought he only reported the latest entertainment news from Hollywood.
"Mark Foley is a friend of mine."
Isn't Joe using the wrong tense in that sentence given what we know about Foley's actions?
Not sure about that, but Joe did have a dead intern of his own
In his own office yet!
Yes, indeed. And also John Kasic. Kasic and Scarborough left Congress at the same time as Condit.
Well, people who have lived here longer than I swear that everything they say about our Senator (D) is true.
Didn't Kasich quickly marry after leaving office and father a set of twins shortly thereafter? Was there a divorce involved? I don't remember. Just that the twins came rather quickly.
Could it be slave labor?
IIRC, he actually got down on one knee and proposed to her on the House floor. Awwww...
That's what I heard not long ago but don't expect it to hurt his chances for reelection. He is a Democrat and that is a plus, not a minus.
Wasn't there a woman found dead in Joe's office, and there was some scandal connected with it?
Ed
I've always wondered if he didn't run again because he didn't want a light (like we are seeing with Foley) shown brightly on him and the death of his assistant.
Not to defend Scarborough, but the distance between Pensacola (main city in Scarborough's district) and West Palm Beach (main metro area in Foley's district) is 700 miles. That is like saying that a Congressman from NYC should be familiar with a Congressman from Chicago, because their districts are 'down I80 from each other.'
The problem is that these ordinary people who are elected to Congress think that they are now above the common herd and are entitled to special priviliges, including the right to prey upon staff.
Members of Congress already have too many special priviliges. They should not have this one too.
Don't know if Kasich is on wife # 2 or not but something doesn't jive there. These guys hold on to their seats like the passengers on a sinking ship. When they give them up "for family reasons" something stinks. As I said Kasich was on the fast track to bigger things. There's something else going on. I like the guy but I think he's got some major skeletons sitting in the back of his closet... Scarborough too.
