Yeah, but there's no way of knowing if it was Foley behind that name.
Go through the McGreevey, Barney Franks and Clinton threads. They didn't have too many defenders, if any. Yes, I dare say you are correct if a "D" was after the name the response of these few would be different.
Meanwhile all I see is a Kid was preyed upon by this slime.
It seems evident whoever had those IM's didn't care, and they should be outed and publicly shamed for allowing this to continue for partisan purposes.
If any members of Congress knew, either side, they should be kicked out.
I have a tough time believing Hastert knew anything beyond the E-Mails, because I don't think he's that sick to allow it to continue. BUT when you get E-Mails of that questionable quality more should be done then acceptance of someone's word nothing happened and a warning to leave the kid alone. I want stricter laws in place that demand investigation immediately to ensure that elected official is telling the truth.
I also want all members of Congress immediately subject to independent review to deteremine if we have any other predators currently operating out of Congress. Conducted by someone that will NOT massage the results to protect either party.
Others can handle the politics, my only interest is protecting the children on capitol hill right now.

I don't know how it works on AOL but in yahoo ,you give yahoo your personal info when you ask for a chatter id. I'm assuming its the same with AOL and they can track down the users information.
The kid was stringing him along to say something nasty and make overtures. I guess he was having a good time with him.
Foley is stupid to have played along. What a stupid thing to do. Foley is a pervert and should be ashamed of himself and he might wind up in jail as a victim of the laws he passed.
OK, how is this really different from Linda Tripp taping phone conversations with Monica Lewinsky? Only the medium is different. Obviously the young man was saving for future use a two-party conversation with one party being unaware.
Also, remember how outraged the left and the DBM were about the salacious details in Ken Starr's report? That those details would be printed was the lowest of the low, but they sure seem to be enjoying broadcasting this stuff far and wide.

I would tend to agree about Hastert. I don't think he's the kind of man to let it continue.
But I also agree that if the House leadership didn't know about the IM's, it's because they didn't want to know and didn't bother to do any digging at all.
In either case, they failed in their responsibilities, not least of which to the parents of other pages. That this sicko was allowed continued access to kids angers and repulses me.
I realize this may have been a set-up but that doesn't excuse Foley's behavior. If he said those things it's disgustingly immoral to the point he deserves to be run out of town on a rail.
If he truly said those things then that shows a penchant for young male flesh. If he's acted on that desire he's a pedophile and deserves to be on the Sex Offender Registry.

If it's a set-up then how do you know that the IMs are truly a reflection of Foley's behavior? They may only reflect that the "kid" is in on a set-up.
The SAME people who sued all the way to the US Supreme Court to force the Boy Scouts to accept male homosexual scout leaders NOW want to posture as outraged by a male homosexual preying on teenage boys? Where where these IM's a year ago when Foley was ordered to cease all contact with the "youth"?
Curious, a series of emails and IMs from 2003 and 2005 are suddenly being shopped around to Junk Media outlet 5 weeks before an election by a George Soro's funded self styled "Public Watch Dog" group called CREW. CREW headed by Melaine Stone, a former assitant to Senator "Slimy" Schumer. The SAME Senator Schumer who happens to be this year's head of the Senate Democrat Reelection Committee.
Foley is gone. He is is current under investigation by the FBI. Thanks to the Democrats pandering to the Homosexual Lobby he probably hasn't even broken any laws. However if he did break any law, he will be prosecuted and punished. Funny how that same standard is not being applied to the 56 Congressional Democrats, including Harry Reid and John Murtha, under investigation on various ethics charges at this time.
The real story now should be just how is it possible for a Democrat Party front groups to stage manage the coverage in our supposed " Objective and Independent" news media so easily? It is another example of just how corrupt and incestuous is the relationship between the US "News" media and the Democrat Party Establishment.
Conservatives are simply way too naive. They are far too easily manipulated by the Washington DC Political-Media Complex. Conservatives should know by now these people are your political blood foes, NOT a serious source of information.
