NOTE: Mark Foley should have resigned earlier and should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law.

- Farrar thrust himself through the open window and into the car. Looking up, he found the body of a young woman. Her head was cocked back, her face pressed into the footwell. Both hands gripped the front edge of the back seat to hold herself in conformity with its upholstered contours. It was not the position assumed by a person knocked unconscious by the impact of a crash, Farrar said. "If she had been dead or unconscious, she would have been prone, sinking to the bottom or floating on top. She definitely was holding herself in a position to avail herself of the last remaining air that had to be trapped in the car." - Farrar took hold of the woman's thigh, and as soon as he touched the body he knew she was dead; the flesh in his hand was hard as wood. "Instead of life-saving, I realized I was now evidence-gathering," Farrar said. "Because I was the only person who would be able to observe this situation, it behooved me to pay attention to what I saw underwater to be able to report it."

In the furor over the disgraced GOP congressman Mark Foley, let's go back in time, shall we? Don't you just love the headline that GOP leaders knew of some Foley email in late 2005?
It was July 19, 1969 when the drunken Ted Kennedy, possessing no current drivers license, drove his Oldsmobile off the bridge, ran away like a coward, and left Mary Jo Kopechne to suffocate when the oxygen ran out in her air pocket.
The Democrat leaders at the time were Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield of Montana and Speaker of the House John McCormack of Boston, Mass.
There is no doubt they knew what happened. We didn't have email in those days. Kennedy did not send an email to Mary Jo. He killed her. He did no jail time. There was a coverup. He paid off the family.
Republican Mark Foley is gone, albeit not quickly enough, because our side won't stand for that kind of behavior. The Democrats, on the other hand, have allowed a killer to remain as a leading senator for over 40 years.
The smartest thing Foley could have done was to immediately switch parties. The gay fascists would have defended him and called this drama a witch hunt. He could have probably even stayed in office if he drove a page off a bridge and kept his body and $90,000 bribe money in his freezer.
Just as we watched the drunken failed lifeguard killer lead the way on complaints of waterboarding, it would be so fitting for Barney Frank to lead an investigation of Foley's activities. Maybe Nancy Pelosi could lead an investigation of plastic surgeons who ruin their patients' faces.
Doug, this was 40 years ago; I think there's a certain statute of limitations on scandal, isn't there?
NOTE: Mark Foley should have resigned earlier and should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law.
Not for killing someone or doing harm to a child.
The Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself...) knew about this MONTHS ago. They endangered other youths by their inaction. Why are THEY not being called to account?
They are going after all of Foley's email and IMs. Fair enough. How about a million emails of Bill and Hillary that were under subpoena but claimed to be "missing"?
Still waiting for your apology.
bump
And nobody here, on in the Republican party, is supporting or defending Foley.
Instead, he did what he needed to do -- resign -- and the leadership immediately did what they needed to do -- disassociate themselves and the party from Foley.
Contrasting these attitudes and actions with the Democrats and The Great Bloviator is a perfectly legitimate exercise.
How about a million emails of Bill and Hillary that were under subpoena but claimed to be "missing"?
You're joking, right, Doug?
It happened during the impeachment investigation. Peter Paul has private video of the Hillary fundraiser lunch at Spago in which Hillary talks about not using email anymore because it would be subpoenaed.
I'm not joking. I can't read everything. Help me here.
I was just a young teen when the death of Mary Jo occurred. It was clear to me listening to the one TV station in our Northern Maine community that the rich and powerful Kennedy received a different justice than that visited on the rest of us. I frankly, have never respected him nor the state of Massachusetts--which kept him in office--since. One part of the secret settlement with the Kopecne family must have been though, that he could never run for President! Not for a moment, once proven guilty, would I ever condone what Foley is alleged to have done, and would never work to keep him in office. What puzzles me, is why do the Dems keep their trashy politicians in office, over and over again?
The incident proves the hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy of the Kennedys and the left, nothing more.
As far as Foley, there are some points that can be made...
---If he did something illegal, he should face the consequences, period...regardless of what RATs would do. We take out the trash; we know they don't, and can give many examples. We should emphasize the difference at the top of our lungs.
---If RATs have a problem with Foley's actions, let them make the case. I don't think they dare, and the party of "Lewinski" and Kennedy has no standing to lecture anyone about morality, ever...and that's what we need to talk about.
Kennedy did try to run in 1980. He ran an insurgent campaign against Carter and got considerable early support.
Also, I have always heard that Lyndon Johnson left a long list of dead bodies along his career path. The DemocRATS are shameless and will do ANYTHING to enrich themselves no matter how much it harms our country.
Thank you!
Peter Paul's got to make sure she's put on the stand under oath. She mustn't be allowed to weasel her way out of this one.
Hillary will be under oath. The judge made that clear to David Kendall in the courtroom on April 7.
Still waiting for your apology.
Later.
