This person seems to have forgotten that the terrorists declared war on us before we took the fight to them.

Actually, 9/11 was mass murder, and it should have been treated as mainly a challenge for the police and intelligence services. So, Mr. Reeves, we should've simply filed a request for extradition of bin Laden with the Taliban...and that would've solved the whole problem?
Well, silly us. Why didn't we see that at the time?

In this same latest TIME edition, all of the letters to the editor were American-bashing, lamenting-the-squandering-of-goodwill whine fests from foreign readers. One opined that if we had just given lots more money to prop up Islamic economies, it would have been much better than to use violence. Another lectured about US arrogance and of course Muslims would be mad at us. Some American whiner waxed rhapsodic about "what our country could have become, 5 years after 9/11" if only we had become pacifist appeasers.
I guess we can see who reads TIME, and where they live. Rome, Brussels, Switzerland etc.

No, Richard, we did not declare war on Islam. Bush bent over so far backwards to kiss Islamic yurt that an emboldened Islam decided to declare war on the soft infidels.
Our declaring war wasn't the problem. The failure to actually wage one that involved sacrifice beyond the price of gasoline was the mistake.

Declaring war after THIS was a MISTAKE?!
More liberal BS. If we didn't go to war and get rid of the terrorists this would be happening again

Islam declared war on western civilization decades ago, and idiots like Ferguson and Reeves still think that we can give them an economic hug and make them love us.

Instead, we fell into a well-laid trap: We declared war on Islam
No, but we surely should have as Islam is at war with us.
There is an extremely evil bit of intellectual chemistry that is at work against us. To the extent that the OIC has named the soon to be built headquarters the "Cultural Axes", and Hitler's book Mein Kampf being a supplemental reader to the Koran, it is quite evident our enemy is not only Muslim terrorists, but the unified Islamic nation. Hitler's work is widely published and distributed in the Islamic nation.
Be it in the US, the UK, France, Germany, other European nations or non-Islamic nations elsewhere in the world, the similarities of tactics employed by the Nazis and Islam today are unmistakable. It is the fingerprint of hatred at the worst. It can be seen in the courts, the Islamic thug street activity, and the propaganda tactics bemoaning unfair treatment while denying their own mistreatment of others. WAKE UP! Wake up all the freedom loving people everywhere.
The enemy is very unified against all people that embrace life, peace and freedom. The Koran is the doctrine of Islam, and Mein Kampf is the road map. The writing is on the wall, the evidence in our daily headlines, but who will read what they do not wish to know? Mein Kampf is not just a best seller within Islamic states, but also doing well within Muslim enclaves inside the US, the UK, and other western nations where it is not outright banned.
To: Mr. Brightside
Actually, on 9/11 we went to great lengths NOT to declare war on Islam. If we are eventually forced into doing it, it will not be by our choice.
To: Mr. Brightside
Leaving aside, for the moment, the invasion of Iraq, which history, in 2031 or 2131, is likely to judge as one of the stupidest presidential decisions of all time, we would have been wiser to treat 9/11 as a crime rather than an attack. Yeah, that strategy worked so well in the 90's...

Much better we just IGNORE threats, and when the next one happens, and the NEXT one happens, ignore those, too...
Just IMAGINE how many lives could have been saved if we'd just admitted we DESERVED Pearl Harbor, for chrrissakes!!!

I think the RATs are going to help us a lot between now and Election Day.
I love the idea of a split screen ad with Al-Zawahiri on one side, and Murtha/Pelosi/Schumer/Dean/Kerry/etc etc on the other.
I don't think we have the stones to do it, but it would be schweet!
