"Only the responsible can be held responsible."

We know that's true, but unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer who believe in self-accountability.

I thought from another poster he has the President's permission to speak to Woodward.

I'm sure he did have permission to speak to Woodward, but there is no way the President didn't feel Card's back stab in this situation. As an inner circle adviser to our Commander in Chief, blabbing confidential advice to get rid of Rumsfeld in a time of war, should never have reached the media's ears.

I believe that George W. Bush's policies have been directed at avoiding that true, all out war, at almost any cost, particularly to himself. It truly has been a noble effort, but I think that he's failed. Time is running out. We will not go gentle into that good night. A civlization must not only rage against the dying of the light, it must fight and succeed in preserving that light. We've done it before, all too many times. We will do it again.

Powerful analysis Phsstpok, and I believe it is accurate. If this nation were to be hit with a biological that killed 20% of the nation, overnite, the internal and external enemies would be identified and dealt with. GWB has indeed been trying to avoid such an outcome, but our good fortune cannot last.

The #1 Al Queda in Iraq just invited terrorists to come to Iraq and try out there WMD on American troops there. It is only a matter of time until the Muslims provoke their version of Ragnarok.

It is a horrible mistake for them and their supporters. The death and destruction that the United States and it's citizens can rain down on them is unprecedented in world history.

All that is required to unleash that incredible power is the right blasting cap. Some talking heads and politicos are going to be horribly surprised at how quickly an ivory tower can crumble.

I don't think there was any way Giuliani could have won the Senate seat in NY this year (or '00 for that matter, tho that was a better shot). So he should become a GOP Sacrificial Lamb to show he's a team player?

You have to consider the 'audience' or voters where you are running .. NYS is hopelessly blue right now. Giuliani, if he were to run for POTUS in '08 and get the GOP nomination, would be more likely to carry the electoral votes of SC than NY. That's just the way it is.

Ann Coulter brought up Studds yesterday. The problem is that no one expects better behavior from the Dhimmicrats, so no one listens. It doesn't have the same shock value as when a Republican does something stupid or perverted. Why? Because, in general, the Republicans do hold the moral high ground - something obtainable by only a very few Democrats.

I invited Larry to join us today but have not seen him on. He wrote that he would be working on things and then, horrors, watch football. LOL

I have not read his books yet but did read reviews and they sound great. Smart man and he makes some outstanding points in supporting our military and President Bush's handling of Iraq.

>And with Woodward .. it's still about the same thing: $$$ >and regaining the prestige and image he lost among his DC >colleagues for leaving the reservation with the first two.

I noticed he all by disappeared after his appearance on LKL during the Valerie Plame press fiasco (when they assumed Rove was going down) where he handed a piece of paper showing who the leaker was to Christopher Dodd that promptly shut Dodd down cold and then it came out he knew who leaked and that it wasn't Rove...

I assume he tried to repent for keeping that secret in this book?

He should have given it a shot....Hitlery is surprisingly vulnerable this year.

Guliani could have given her quite a run for her money.

I don't blame him for not doing it, but at least it would have put her on the spot.
