Texas Landowners Protest Superhighway Plan

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Protestors turned out across the state Saturday to voice their concerns about the multi-billion dollar Trans-Texas corridor.

The 4,000-mile highway is being developed, in part, to relieve traffic on Interstate 35.

The corridor would be three times wider than the average highway, wide enough for cars, trucks and trains. It would also be used as a route for utility lines.

However, not everyone supports the plan for a highway that would run from Mexico to Oklahoma, because in order to make this ambitious project a reality the state will have to take land through eminent domain.

“Many people realize this is a rip off of Texas citizens and we're doing our best to stop it,” said Russ Russell of Grapevine.

Protestors say people shouldn't have to give up land that has been in their families for generations.

“The people are entitled to their land and their homes,” Arlington resident Jerry Pikulinski said.

But it’s not just the land that's an issue, said Tarrant county resident Beth Kisor.

“I am very disturbed about roads being taken after they've been paid for by taxes and become toll roads.”

Still North Texas transportation leaders support the project saying if the infrastructure isn't improved, the Texas economy will decline.

They should just drop a nuke on that big shopping mall called "Dallas" and be done with it.

The new "underground railroad"? You can add Oklahoma to "Aztlan" if this plan goes through.

So has Governor Friedman weighed in on this, or is he just gonna blow it off with a lame quip?

Who in the hell would support this plan?

Oh right, Rick Perry.

Kansas City has been told we can expect an additional 1,000 trucks per day coming up the highway in this area.

Kinky is against the highway, and even more against the foreign contractors hired to build it.

I can clearly see by the totally screwed up map you posted that there is no question that the road design was laid out by politicians. Where are the straight roads? Looks like a gerrymandered map to me.

Never forget, a camel is a horse designed by a committee.

"foreign contracters hired to build it"

It would appear that no one was "hired", and this is just another lie from Kokaine Kinky.

Has anyone checked where all the Money is coming from ?
Answer........
A Massive Highway Bill passed and signed by congress and George Bush!!!

The answer of Course is from the U.S.Taxpayers without our approval. Then the U.S. and State Govts. will By Emminent Domain take away from private ownership approx. 530,000 acres.

We can all thank George bush for this mess.
Plus the Mexican Govt. will have a customs checkpoint in Kansas City Missouri.

Little wonder George Bush is doing NOTHING about the Illegal Immigration from Mexico.

After that ask yourself Why 10 Major Universities are studying the Merger of U.S.A., Canada and Mexico into ONE Country with One money called the Amero?

Just curious why you oppose Mexico having a custom house at the KC SmartPort?

I looked up John 10:1 and it is perfect for this situation.
You sure know your bible.

John 10:1 Jesus Said,
" I am telling you the truth: the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs some other way is a thief and a robber."

Soverignty, Our people can do it and it would be nice to give Americans Jobs.

After all, Customs is only administrative and we could give the Mexicans copies of everything. Or, why can't the Mexicans check out this cargo when it enters Mexico.

I think George Bush is a One Worlder and I think he wants to get rid of the Borders of the U.S.A.

You reckon that maybe these roadways of travel and commerce should be shut down? After all they reach down to the sourthern border, criss cross the US and reach all the way to the northern border..... Damn roadways....
