Serbia's parliament has unanimously approved a new constitution that claims sovereignty over the UN administered province of Kosovo.

The move, passed during a special session of parliament, opposes calls for the ethnic Albanian majority in Kosovo to be given independence.

'Integral part'

Mr Kostunica said the country's new constitution would provide a strong legal foundation for Serbia and allow it to move closer to European standards and values.

Mr Kostunica said there was no need to wait for the Kosovo issue to be settled before adopting the new constitution.

Instead, he said it would "cement the truth that Kosovo always has been and always will be an integral part of Serbia".

Until now Serbia has been operating under the old constitution of the former President, Slobodan Milosevic.

So the Serbs are employing democratic and legal means to
assert the sovereignity of their nation. Puts the west in one hell of an anti-democratic position.

Kosovo: 'Wahhabism Acquires Alarming Proportions'

In Kosovo, Albert Haziri-Zejdi, from Gnjilan, a 29-year-old graduate from a Jordanian university, is considered one of the leaders of the province's Wahhabis. They are early in their development and do not yet have a well-organized structure.

"In the past this group did not exist in Kosovo," Resul Rexhepi from the Islamic Community told local media, "they appeared in the past 20 years, but for the major part after the [1998–99] war in Kosovo."

Rexhepi said that Wahhabism came to Kosovo via the regular route: through graduates from foreign universities and Islamic charities. He doesn't consider them a threat to the established Islamic Community and thinks they would be stopped if they tried to set up parallel structures.

Zejdi, on the other hand, hopes for precisely that. "For the time being we are independent but we hope to be able to give life to an organization [of our own]," he said, according to local media.

"Due to the legal and religious doctrine it adheres to we do not have any relations with the Islamic Community in Kosovo," he added.

Kosovo's leading daily, Koha Ditore, wrote in November, "The phenomenon of 'Wahhabism' has assumed big and alarming proportions in all Albanian lands and in the Albanian diaspora in the West." The paper condemned recent acts of vandalism and desecration of graves aimed to eliminate inscriptions of names and photographic images, which is counter to Wahhabi religious doctrine.

Thanks for the Ping...

That's good news.   Well of course it puts democracy and the West against the wall.   I still don't believe the UN has ANY authority whatsoever to intervene into a sovereign democratic nation such as Serbia, and partition it as they so choose.   Besides, there are to many valid arguments against, with Islamofascism coming to mind to ever permit a give-away of Kosovo.

Alarmism for anyone who actually knows Albanians and what they're like. They're tribalist gangsters for whom the Code of Lek rules and for whom Islam (for those that aren't pretend Catholics or Orthodox) is merely a dressing that allowed them privileges during the Ottoman occupation.

Wahhabism and the Code of Lek don't necessarily mix, one attempts to rule the other, the etrnal struggle between the underclasses to see who becomes the top if the bottom of the heap.

You have forgotten this bloke:

Michael Polt is perhaps the worst Ambassador on Condy's roster. He is bluntly anti-Serbian and does not miss an opportunity to demonstrate this.

For example, in a visit to Podgorica scout camp where this photo was taken, he engaged in political talk with children that would constitue as a criminal offense in The United States, because he insulted children on a racial basis.

Because Polt is a career diplomat, it is not likely that he voices his personal opinions. He voices the official American policy toward Serbia, albeit in a very non-diplomatic way. Probably he is not the sharpest tool in a drawer.

Polt is showing DoS true colors to Serbs. It is useful for Serbs but embarrasing for the United States. People like Polt should have no place in diplomatic service.

Polt visited children's camp on Mt. Tara July 24th where 200 war orphans spend summer vacation.

His message was to the effect of the words that Serbs are violent and that new generation has to grow up to become different and rectify the wrongs of the past. Children who lost their parents in the war!

Imagine Chicom Ambassador visiting summer camp and lecturting American children what Americans are.

Sadly, Serbian MFA whitewashed the incident and reported like this:

POLT, DAVINIC VISIT SCHOOL OF FRIENDSHIP ON MT TARA

MT TARA, July 24 (Tanjug) - US Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Michael Polt and Serbia-Montenegro Defence Minister Prvoslav Davinic on Sunday visited the Children's Camp on Mt Tara, where about 200 children who had lost one or both parents in the latest wars are staying.

Addressing the children, Polt said that he was glad to see the spirit of positive patriotism in the School of Friendship, which has been organised for five consecutive years by the Our Serbia humanitarian NGO from Belgrade. This is a guarantee of better future not only of these children and this country, but also of the entire world, Polt said.

The School of Friendship is attended by about 200 participants from Serbia-Montenegro, Republika Srpska, Serb enclaves in Kosovo-Metohija and about 20 children from the diaspora - Slovenia, US,

Well did the Serbs stick up for themselves (I'm talking especially about the adult supervisors and counselors) and argue against him - or are they all acting the doormat?

In the photo, the kids are nonetheless smiling.

I wonder why he was permitted to come anyhow. They say people can only take advantage of you if you allow it - and the Serbs seem to just take it sometimes.

He was outnumbered, they could have said something about U.S. actions maiming and killing Serb children and supporting head cutters. What would he do then, the fatso?
