Read Charlie Wilson's War on this. Doesn't go into as much detail on what Murtha did wrong, but does detail how Tip O'Neal bailed Murtha out when the special prosecutor insisted the ethics committee throw Murtha out of Congress.
These are bad people but for some reason republicans are not willing to explain how bad they are.
