There was an old Doonesbury strip where the Duke was being interviewed by a Senator. Duke advocated gun ownership by saying something like "Let's say your wife goes nutty and starts shooting you. Wouldn't you want to be in a position to return fire?"

Does any one here think that all of this Gun Control madness and all of these "released" "Sex Offenders" and other violent criminals are a part of some "Grand Plan" by "Law "Enforcement"", The "Judicial "System"", and the Government to just keep "We the People" compliant, scared and malleable.

What? Why that's unthinkable.
Stop thinking it.

I'm not sure I would include "law enforcement" in that group. My son is a cop, one of about 60 in his town and he tells me that he doesn't know any cops who are against armed law abiding citizens.
It can't be though because we live in Illinois.

I have been advocating that at our school for quite some time.
The idea has gotten rebuffed, but in light of the recent shooting here in Wisconsin, maybe it will get taken seriously.

The tragedy at Platte Canyon is another reminder of the madness of gun control. The left simply doesn't get it. Time for major change in this country.

I have a CC permit here in VA, and the ony 3 places I cannot carry are places that serve alcohol, courthouses, and schools. And the big difference where schools are concerned? Carrying there is a FELONY.

The whole gun issue sums up the differences between liberals and conservatives.
The liberal mind set is to distrust the individual and have a government of coercion. If 20 laws dont change what is happening 30 or 40 will. The liberals also believe that everyone is just like them - if they decide that they can exploit something for their advantage then everyone else will do the same and that must be prevented!
Conservatives, on the other hand, seem to realize that laws dont promote a civilized society; training in social skills both at home and in society does. Lawbreakers are exactly that and they should be punished. If a person breaks existing laws, new laws will not turn him around. Conservatives know that everyone isnt like them and, more importantly, most seem to enjoy this. As for exploiting laws and events for gain, most conservatives seem to be too busy with life to do such a petty thing.

When I was a teacher in a rural PA school district, the teachers often talked about that. We thought an armed teacher on every floor or hallway would be good. I was saying to my sister the other day that when some nut enters a school with a gun, the school goes on lock down. If anyone has seen a high school classroom door, this is not really going to stop anything. In fact the term "shooting fish in a bucket" comes to mind.

I thought the same thing that day. Can you imagine if the teacher had been armed. It would also be a deterrent because you'd know that at least some teachers are armed.

I cannot carry are places that serve alcohol, courthouses, and schools. You should be able to carry anywhere, with the exception of someone elses private property where the owner of the property tells you not to.
If you don't want me to carry a gun in your home, I have two choices. Disarm before entering or don't go in your home.
All that having been said, I live in Illinois. One of only two states in the entire country that doesn't have some form of concealed carry law.

"Why is it unthinkable?" Because you're not supposed to think it. Do we have to send over some agents to assist you?

Agreeing wholeheartedly, but not folowing your meaning on this sentence... The liberals also believe that everyone is just like them - if they decide that they can exploit something for their advantage then everyone else will do the same and that must be prevented!

Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said America must take "all necessary steps to make our schools safer for our children."
More stupid speak from the land of the sheeple.
Supposedly, it did that by declaring them gun free and increasing penalties for anyone found on school property with "a weapon," real or otherwise. Mr. Helmke now wants even more worthless gun laws that the Duane Morrisons of this world can ignore wantonly and that would leave millions of children even more vulnerable to school invasions.
The stupidity of the law, as well as the signs posting the area, "weapons free area" is like saying, sheeple lined for massacre to the whack jobs...and gets them the attention they so seem to so desperately seek on their way out.
another reminder of the madness of gun control
Gun control has only been about control, nothing else. Without a gun they think they stop anything? Okay, I'll run them over with my vehicle, then lets outlaw cars for everyone.
Bunch of dumbass, bleeding heart, liberals! Make sure you go to the polls this fall and tell these jack asses to hit the road, that they, and their leadership (demorats) are not welcome here in America!
