I am fairly convinced that Royal will win the French Presidential election.

Would you mind translating some of this article, just in case there is some one on FR that isn't French.

Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former centre-right prime minister, who said of her: "She seduces from afar, but she exasperates up close."
Those French are so eloquent!

You made the post, you can do better than that. The article is in English. I suggest you read it rather than faffing about.

But why should we care, the article is in English, but how does it relate to us?
I'm trying to find something to connect with, but you seem a little hostile for the guy that started the thread.

But why should we care, the article is in English, but how does it relate to us? This is why I'm irritated with you. Have you been asleep and not noticed how France can be an utter pain in the backside? What this article is spelling out is that this state of affairs may not get better when a new president is elected in France. France has engaged in delusions of grandeur which have cost Britain and America time, money nad effort - furthermore, they are undermining the West having a unified response to Iran just now.
That's why this is important. Anyone who has been reading on FR for a while should be aware of this.
As for being irritable, absolutely, I don't suffer fools gladly. Every other respondent on this thread has understood immediately the importance of what is happening in France. It's not my problem if you don't. You trying to make it my problem is annoying.

But why should we care, the article is in English, but how does it relate to us? Maybe you should care because Segolene Royal or Nicolas Sarkozy will be the next president of France in 8 months and I'm not sure that you will be able in a such short time to find new good jokes about France. New good jokes as good as " Chi-rat", "Frog" or "cheese-eating surrender monkey", I mean...

Some of us started our involvement with France decades before today.
It doesn't hurt to make a thorough comment when posting something that some people ,like me, might think is a little obscure, like French election campaigns.

I have posted articles of this kind for that length of time. This is the very first time that anyone has made any such comment like this.
Asking me to spoon feed you in light of this experience is plainly bizarre.

Yes ! I've got a new good joke ! If Segolene Royal is elected : "Royal Cheese", of course !! What a good laugh it will be !
But unfortunately I've found nothing about Sarkozy. Maybe my english is not good enough... I'm sad. Really.

While postings can and do challenge; if only one's patence on occasion; the truth is that what you do not get. . .you can always 'google'. Good thing about FR it that it is both a starting point. . .and ending; as per poster. . .and postings. . .
. . .but of course, we all know this.

I will support whomever my friends in the 13e REGIMENT DE DRAGONS PARACHUTISTES support. When I was with them they were always willing to explain why they hated Mitterrand.
