There he was again Wednesday -- Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha complaining out loud about the U.S. military presence in Iraq, squealing about a civil war and about how the result of America's abandonment of Iraq could not possibly be any worse than the current situation.
As usual, he was flanked by military veterans, who like Murtha intend to use their service time as a qualification for obtaining national political office. These days, when Murtha hops around the country trying to further demoralize America's servicemen and women fighting World War III, he takes along like-minded liberals to defend the integrity of his two Purple Hearts.
Without regurgitating the whole controversy surrounding Murtha's medals, let me refer you to Cybercast News Service's investigation earlier this year into Murtha's military and political past, which obviously is still making the congressman lose sleep.
His surrogates, like those who joined him Wednesday, are eager to bash "these weasels, these snakes in the grass, these masters of deceit and deception and lies" (I've been called much worse) who question the political motivations of individuals like Murtha.
But the congressman and allies have never faced up to the most pertinent questions. 1) Did Murtha exploit and manipulate the system 40 years ago in order to gain the Purple Hearts and then a seat in Congress? 2) Is he currently exploiting the war in Iraq in order to leap to the position of majority leader if Democrats seize control of the House in the 2006 elections?
Just answer those two basic questions, congressman. Level with the American public and with the American servicemen and women, who you claim have no chance at success in Iraq.
Why do we suspect that politics is behind every word Murtha utters? It's because a U.S Marine of 37 years would not, or at least should not, denigrate the military, about which he once apparently cared so much. Instead, he should offer constructive and private advice and criticism to the administration (it needs it, especially Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld) and place politics aside for the most important issue of our time.
But there is a crass, selfish side to Mad-Dog Murtha, and we continue to see it on display every time he appears to bash the president and the servicemen and women who call Bush their commander-in-chief.
If Murtha and his ilk lose another national election on Nov. 7, will they finally get a clue and stop politicizing the war in Iraq? Don't bet on it.
Ping!
"Just answer those two basic questions, congressman."
Diana Irey, his opponent in this election, has been asking many questions of him and he will not respond. He has made erroneous statements on many occasions and when asked about them, he refuses to address them.
These links contains much information about his questionable behavior.

during the Clintoooon years, he not only did his best to dismantle the military, he promoted up the ranks, I remember hearing, people that were not qualified nor really that committed to the military...Bush/Rummy shook up the military and weeded many of these out. They are bitter, methinks
That sounds good to me Smooth. We'll celebrate some of his shortcomings which are many.

Hiya AmeriBrit, good to see you and how's everything on the high desert? :-)
Hah! I got some help and could probably struggle through one but haven't got up the nerve just yet.
If he were a congressman on 8 Dec. 1941, he would have demanded the withdrawl of all military personnell from the islands of Wake, Guam,Somoa, and the Hawaiin islands to not agitate the Japanese any further. Probably would want all troops out of Alaska, too.

Warm, smoky and windy.
Dang, that sounds like I'm describing some sleazy bar. LOL
We've seen the weirdest thing the last few days with these
fires. A red sun and a red moon.
Remember this one?

I don't remember that specific thread but have read everything that was in the article. He and Code Pinko's deserve each other.
It's a coincidence meeting here tonight, the wife is flying south on Monday to visit her mom in Hesperia. I'm sure there'll still be the red sun and moon from the forecasts on the fires down there.
