VANITY - Other Conservative Countries
My Rattled Soul | Frank_Discussion

Okay, folks. You all know me as a jokester a lot of the time, but I have some major, serious-as-a-heart-attack questions I need to ponder. I need help, badly.

I can't tell you the circumstances, but I am in a situation where I am being accused of something I did not do, and being persecuted by a government agency that doesn't seem to know it's constitutional bounds. I am additionally concerned that even after a successful resolution of the false charges, they'll find an excuse to joust with me again.

So.

When all this unfounded bullsh*t is resolved, I am considering moving abroad, but I'm wondering where I would best relocate.

It would need to be an english speaking country (or primarily so) and certainly friendly to personal liberty. I know, I know, America is the best in that regard generally, but this current circumstance may have poisoned those waters. Also, before anyone accuses me of "running away", let me assure you the reasons for such action are not as selfish as you might think.

I am considering Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.

I apologize in advance for not being able to tell you more, I've got to play this close to vest for now.

Great Britain isn't all that great regarding personal liberties. I've never been to Australia or New Zealand.

Don't have a clue where Old Zealand is or whether it's a contender.

We need a Swiss Freeper.

If the price is right you can come live in the woods behind my house. When it gets cold you are more than welcome to stay in my basement. I would make you an honorary cousin for Thanksgiving.

Let me know if you find a good one; if the demonrats take over this one, I'm amenable to moving too.

Well if you are going to be facing legal charges, I'd pick a country that won't send you back. If thats not an issue I've heard Australia or Ireland are nice places, and that Ireland is having a period of growth. Plus you won't have to learn a new language. If you have a lot of cash I've heard you can live like a king in South America only like 100,000 dollars a year.

I doubt it. I remember guys going through there on KC-135 tankers. The locals would always ask if they were carrying nukes. One of my crew chief buddies opened the keel beam bay doors, pointed to the air cycle machine (air conditioner) and said; yeah there is one. Anyway the locals came off as being moonbats. Just retelling what I heard.

Ha ha. Very funny. :)

I'm not running, I am fighting and expect to win. It's just that I would not put it past the offending party to try again the very next bloody day!

Fight the problem and keep your name/rep clean.

Once that's done, if you are still ticked and need a change of scenery...
I'd go with Calgary/Edmondton, Alberta...they've got an oil boom going
and my relatives in Edmondton say house prices there are jumping thanks
to the boom.
BUT, be prepared for some hard winter months.

Second, Australia sounds nice.

Third...how about Costa Rica? You can pick up Spanish. And lots of
Americans (even of shady character) seem to end up there in decent circumstances.

The land of Oz is very nice. Nobody gets old, nobody curses and they have totally BITCHIN' concerts.

Watch out for that punkin' head guy though...

Definitely not the UK.

The people I know who left to live in New Zealand were back within a year complaining about the insularity and the weather.

Australia is a great choice.

Closer to home, Panama or Costa Rica.

Iceland?! Uh, maybe not, as much as I enjoy cool weather and wide open spaces...

Poland? Hadn't thought of that.

I have a potential Costa Rican connection that's actually quite tempting.

I had the impression that Canada would not be such a good choice, though I know they've turned the corner back to conservatism lately.

As I said in a couple of posts back, I am fighting. My fear, not entirely unfounded, is that there'll just be a new fight, and that cycle might just continue until my options are dried up.
