I saw "Flyboys" the other night and it is a real exception to the current bilge. Not totally authentic, but a rousing good film that contains more than a bit of historical accuracy. It is a throwback to the old epic film although the critics apparently hate it because it "glorfies war." Well, World War I was entered into with themes of glory most prominant followed by complete disillusionment. The movie captures this fact well, but I guess the liberal critics out there either know little of history or else don't like clean films without the gratuitous f bomb and nudity. Go see it. I think you would like it.
I saw Flyboys, and while I thought it was somewhat formulaic, and the romance in it was rather obvious, by the end, I was thoroughly entertained. I'd give it 2.5 stars. Definately worth seeing on the big screen, when was the last time you saw Bi-planes and Tri-planes, shooting it out in the skies over France?
I'm witchoo. Flyboys is great.
I read the book "Flyboys" and it was a really good book. I hope the movie does it justice, because I really want to see it.
I concur. My wife and I saw it. It was pretty good. I think flag of our fathers and the other new film about the indians in south america will be good also. Flyboys is the first movie my wife and I have saw in a theater since the last Star Wars movie. The last one before that was the last Star Wars movie. You can see we don't go to that crap either. We rent or buy older movies. We search the stores for the older movies on DVD.
