Blackanthem Military News, BAGHDAD, Iraq - Combined operations by both the Iraqi Security Force and Coalition Force troops this week continued to target terrorist operations and resulted in the capture of numerous terrorists.
Al ANBAR
On Sept. 18 and 19, combined forces discovered several weapons caches and improvised explosive devices (IED), and rounded up multiple suspects during counterinsurgency operations in western Al Anbar. The forces discovered five weapons and munitions caches, and multiple IEDs throughout the region as a result of routine and planned counterinsurgency operations. They discovered the largest cache Sept. 18 in the Euphrates River town of Dulab. Forces found hundreds of 82mm explosive mortar rounds. Anti-Iraqi forces commonly use these projectile-type munitions to launch attacks against Iraqi and Coalition forces, and to manufacture IEDs. Four additional weapons caches with smaller yields were also discovered.
BAGHDAD
A terrorist linked to vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks in the Baghdad area was captured along with three others during a Baghdad raid Sept 17. Reliable intelligence links this terrorist to several al-Qaida in Iraq leaders, including the leader of the terrorist cell operating in the South Karkh area of Baghdad. The ground forces recovered a dozen AK-47s along with two machine guns, two hand guns and associated ammunition.
MUQDADIYAH
Ground forces killed four terrorists; wounded one and detained seven others during a raid that targeted a terrorist in Muqdadiyah the morning of Sept.16. As forces moved onto the objective, they immediately engaged the terrorists and secured the area. As they cleared the area, they discovered a cache consisting of a suicide vest, machine guns, one RPG launcher, rockets and ammunition. The forces also found other weapons and multiple grenades on the target. According to battlefield questioning, one of the terrorists is believed to be an al-Qaida in Iraq member who arranges movement of fighters in and out of the country. The other terrorists are members of a group who conducted regular terrorist activities against Iraqi and Coalition forces, and the local populace.
YUSIFIYAH
After observing two terrorists emplacing a roadside IED, ground forces killed them Sept. 19 near Yusifiyah. Forces tracked the terrorists from the IED site to a meeting location and then to a sparsely populated area. The forces fired warning shots in front of the terrorists moving vehicle signaling the driver to stop. The driver disregarded the warnings and sped up. At that point, ground forces engaged the vehicle with direct fire, disabling the engine and killing the terrorists. A search of the vehicle uncovered an AK-47 assault rifle along with multiple ammunition magazines and an assault vest in the trunk. One of the terrorists was also armed with an AK-47. The vehicle disabled in this operation was directly linked to several previous targets associated with Al-Qaida in Iraq and foreign fighters.
On Sept. 20, in In another Yusifiyah operation, ground forces killed one terrorist and detained 17 during four separate raids targeting foreign terrorist operations. As forces moved on the first objective, they killed an armed terrorist who attempted to engage them and detained four others. On three subsequent objectives, ground forces detained 13 other terrorists.
Also in Yusifiyah on Sept. 21, forces killed three foreign terrorists wearing suicide vests and detained five others during operations. Forces detained five terrorists on the first objective, including one who was wearing a suicide vest. The five detainees then informed forces there were more terrorists with suicide vests hiding in a nearby canal. The ground forces then identified three suicide bombers, and after careful consideration to minimize collateral damage, aircraft engaged the terrorists with direct fire. After the strike, troops on the ground verified the terrorists wore suicide vests. Intelligence from a series of previous operations targeting foreign fighters in this area led to the raid. Intelligence linked the objective to an associate of Abu Ayyub Al Masri and observations connected to the terrorists to emplacing an IED on the afternoon of Sept. 19 in Yusifiyah.

Seriously, thanks for the good news about our troops doing such a good job. Sure won't find it in too many other places. God bless all of you and Free Republic.
I've never looked up the exact definition, but it seems to fit regardless. LOL
Look for Sandrat and Gucho and JMC1969 threads to keep up to date on the wars.
BTTT
Yeah, probably during a game of scrabble.
Where is MUQDADIYAH in Iraq? And what unit participated in this?
Thanks.

Thanks.
Same as Mahmudiya, if I'm not mistaken. In the Sunni Triangle. Not sure of which unit is there now.
Haha! I'd looked for it his old college dictionary which apparently came over on the Mayflower. Later I found it in an updated dictionary.
