Doctor Ken Shelton had a Jim Rassman moment where he suddenly remembered a significant event from 30 years ago right before an election. I call BS.

Being born and raised in the South, I challenge anyone who claims they have never used the "n-word". Allen should have just claimed he was practicing to be a Rap Star - they use the word quite freely without any backlash.

But that is the point - George Allen did NOT grow up in the South! He grew up in Southern California, hardly a bastion of racism. His mother was an olive-skinned Tunisian and his grandfather was Italian and was a prisoner of the Nazis. His father was a football coach who coached and hung out with many black athletes. It is part of the whole smear campaign to convince people that George Allen is some kind of congenital southern racist redneck. Nothing could be further from the truth.

This is a classic smear campaign, started deliberately by the Webb campaign through the ultra-sleazy Salon website, and then picked up verbatim by the leftists at the Associated Press and the Allen-hating Washington Post. I have contrasted especially the Post's running with this story without any additional reporting and sourcing, to their refusal in 1998 to run Michael Isikoff's scoop aboout Bill Clinton having an affair with an intern, because they didn't think it was sourced well enough!
